I Hate Notre Dame

I really do. To my dismay, their schedule is a joke.

Nevada
@ Michigan
Michigan State
@ Purdue
Washington
USC
Boston College
Washington State (In San Antonio, of all places)
Navy
@ Pitt
UConn
@ Stanford

Even USC is down (for USC standards) this year. Michigan is the only team who should be improved compared to last year. Pitt might be decent. That's a 10 win season by accident. And a 10 win season for Notre Dame means a BCS game. A BCS game for Notre Dame means an ASSLOAD of media love for the Irish and TV face time for Chuck Weis. Sorry to make you vomit.

Craig Counsell best player of Steroid Era?

You've gotta love the Onion. Even though its satire...you've got to wonder if you could make the case for what the article says (wait...give me a second...no you can't...let's move on).

After the records of players who used performance-enhancing drugs are carefully removed, statistics provided by the Elias Sports Bureau indicate that lifetime .255 hitter Craig Counsell was the best player of the past 15 years.

He came this close to stealing a base off of Ivan Rodriguez, and I swear I heard him foul tip a Roger Clemens fastball. The kid could flat-out steroid-free play.

Here's the best line though:
One time he was playing third base and he caught a Rafael Palmeiro line drive—just caught it, right in his mitt.

I pulled the photo from This Site. Awesome. Hey! Did you guys know Counsell has an accounting degree from Notre Dame? See...he's just like you or I.

I think I could get lost in that website for hours.

Outstanding

Notre Dame is going to retain Charlie Weis for next year, which will be his 5th with the school.

And why not? Some career highlights:
  • Was the first Notre Dame coach to lose to an 8-loss team (Syracuse in 2008).
  • Lost 15 games the past 2 years, the most losses over two consecutive years in school history.
  • 1-16 in the last 17 games against teams that ended the season with a winning record.
  • 1 victory in 4 years over a team that ended the season in the top 25 (Penn St. in 2006 finished ranked #24).
  • Notre Dame didn't get a first down against USC this year until the last play of the 3rd quarter.
  • Lost to Navy last year, which broke a 43-game winning streak against Navy.

Good times.

Would You Like to Come to the Pants-Wetting Party?

Mike Golic Jr. was one of two Notre Dame football players who attended a pants-wetting party recently at South Bend. Well, it didn't start out to be a pants-wetting party, until South Bend's finest intervened.

Attorney Jeff Stesiak, who represents Yeatman and several of the women who rent the residence on Colfax, says the renters claim in sworn affidavits that the police were never granted permission to enter the residence; that police were overzealous in their scope and their manner; that Miranda Rights weren't read to most if not all of the students; that Yeatman and fellow football player Golic were taunted and that somehow quarterback Jimmy Clausen's name became part of the taunting even though Clausen wasn't present; and that several of the arrested parties told police they had to go to the restroom and were turned down and they ended up wetting themselves.

The cops make you piss your pants if picked up for underage drinking? Yet another in the long list of reasons not to go to Notre Dame.

Not Making Friends In South Bend

Killed some free time by checking out the College Football Hall of Fame, in South Bend. That can only mean one thing...every worker is a Notre Dame fan. Thought I would entertain myself by asking a few questions.

1) It was the Friday before the Michigan game, so:
Me: "Who's gonna win tomorrow?"
HOF Worker (With ND hat on): Staring at me for about two minutes..."Who do you think?!?"
Me: "I don't know, they both blow."
HOF Worker: Head turning red....

2) They had big celebrations all weekend as Lou "Granny" Holtz was having his statue unveiled before the game. Because of that, the HOF had a bunch of guys there to sign autographs, including Rocket Ismail
Me: Turning to a different HOF worker: "You think he will sign my Toronto Argonauts helmet?"
HOF Worker: Once again, staring at me for about 3 minutes..."ONLY NOTRE DAME MEMORABILIA:"
Me: "Hee hee....OK Chief"

Ah, a little afternoon fun. It was a pretty cool museum. Highly recommended. The highlight was a big Brent Moss picture recapping the 1994 season. NCAA has to be proud of Brent Moss.

Another chink in the Cubs armor...

I know he's actually a pretty good pitcher, but I still find it somewhat humorous that a guy that used to catch Brady Quinn's balls at Notre Dame is now pitching for the Chicago Cubs.

Welcome to the Show you big donkey. Way to let up a run in your first inning. I bet Ryan Braun wouldn't have done that. He would have struck out the side and then hit a home run in the bottom of the inning and then chest-bumped Lou Pinella.

I guess the main point of this post is...Notre Dame sucks.
