Doug Davis Update/Flashback

Anybody remember this gold nugget? This was a watershed post in Chuckie Hacks history as it:

A) Introduced Woz to Chuck, and
B) Got BrewerFan.net into such a tizzy, the entire existence of their site was questioned on the message board.
C) Is still the biggest, boldest, mudslinging piece of "journalism" in Hacks history. Good times.

Anyway, it seems Mr Davis recently got engaged to his Eau Claire hottie. Here's the wedding announcement from the EC Leader-Telegram. Don't know if the Spectator confirmed the story. I like how it says Davis pitches for the D-Backs "In Phoenix," like he works for ABC Consulting or something like that. Thanks for the clarification.

Big Thanks to Jagr for the link.

Ted Thompson's Ring Tone

Screw the Favre trade talk...there are bigger issues here...like what do you think Ted Thompson's ring tone is?

If there were, G.M. Ted Thompson’s cell phone would be constantly belting out whatever ring tone he has programmed into it. (He strikes as a “Don’t Fear The Reaper” guy.)

Fascinating time killer to think about...Thompson's ring tone. IMHO, "Don't Fear The Reaper" doesn't fit the bill...let's dig deeper. What do we really know about Ted Thompson?

We know two main things:
-He is a cold, ruthless GM that takes pride in being right over the long term.
-He looks like Crazy Joe Davola from those old Seinfeld episodes.

So with that being said...I think the ring tone is obvious: It would have to be "Come Sail Away" by Styx.
"On board, Im the captain, so climb aboard..."
"Come sail away with me..."

These lyrics speak to his arrogance (he is stating he is the Captain and you better climb aboard) and his semi-davola-ish crazy factor (telling you to come sailing with him...a little weird).

Anyway, if you got a better idea for what Thompson's ring tone is...I'd FREAKING LOVE to hear it.

Brewers Back To The American League?

A rumor in the Kansas City Star says..."the Royals want to switch to the National League and the Brewers want to return to the American League."

Where this came from, who knows. It does say that KC had the first crack at shifting to the NL back in 1997, but turned it down...allowing the Crew to make the move.

For the Brewers, this wouldn't be a bad move in the short term...just because the DH could be used for either Prince/LaPorta, both serious DH material. Long term, it would be crazy for Milwaukee to go back to the AL. Think of the next, say, 30 years. I'm guessing it's easier to reach the World Series in the NL where you don't have to go through the Yankees or Red Sox seemingly every year.
