Brewers/Packers TV Ratings

I can't believe the head-to-head TV ratings from last Sunday...the Packer and Brewer games were on simultaneously.

The Brewers were in Game 4 of their first playoff appearance in 26 years. The 2-2 Packers were in a tussle with the 2-2 Atlanta Falcons. A TV viewership mismatch, right? Yup...for the Packers? Way more than twice as many people watched a regular season Packer game than Brewer playoff baseball?!? I thought Milwaukee was "starving" for post season baseball. Guess not. I knew the Packers ruled the state, but buy a landslide? Holy Crap. I'm stunned.

That's because Wisconsin is filled with fat, dirty, trailor park trash, half witted retards.

Keep in mind that this was for the Milwaukee area only, so a lot of people were at the game instead of watching it on TV, so that's part of it.

Plus as clowny said, the average Wisconson Neilsen family is a bunch of dumb hayseeds who can't watch a baseball game without falling asleep.

Over-The-Air TV will beat Cable anyday in Wisconsin.

...here in AZ I was frantically flipping between the Crew and the Pack...the Crew won out, I mean, it was an elimination game in the post season...

I think everyone was just hoping for a glimpse of Matt Flynn after his stirring performance at Tampa.

I think everybody knew the outcome of Suppan getting the start...

A few things to keep in mind, it was in Milwaukee, so most would be viewers were at the game, secondly lots of people gathered to watch at sports bars and other establishments, and last, the Brewers game was on cable. Over-the-air is going to smoke cable ratings every time.

A few points to make:

1) A couple of commenters said that "...most would-be viewers were at the game" Ummm - there were 45,000 people at Miller Park for the game. The Milwaukee metro area is ~1.5 million. That's 3%, if my math is correct. Don't overstate the impact of the fans at the game.

2) Justin stated, "...lots of people gathered to watch at sports bars and other establishments". True - probably to watch both at the same time. Unless these were comprised of an inordinate number of Nielsen household members, I don't think the ratings were skewed by this factor.

3) I would agree that broadcast TV will win out over cable TV most of the time.

4) I wonder when the ratings were measured. I would guess that there were many more people tuned into the Brewer game until Suppan served up back-to-back gopher balls, and the Crew was in a 5-0 hole after 2.5 innings.

Let me give you an example of why the packers will always win.

The company that I previously worked for had 10 employees. All Men. Of those 10 men, only 3 took an interest in sports.(I know this sounds funny, but true.) However, On any given Monday morning, when talking about the weekend, All 10 men had watched the packer game from the weekend. Only 2 ( one of which one was me) watched a brewers game. So even those people who don't have much of an interest in sports of any kind watch the Packers, Why ? I don't know....it just is the way it was and is..... but they all had an opinion on Monday!

So in that TRUE LIFE small sample of 10- Wisconsin Men
80% would always choose the Packers, and they were fat, dirty, trailor park trash, half witted retards!

Packers for some reason appeal to just about everyone.
