My Closing Thoughts

I love baseball. Grew up playing it. Its all I wanted to do when I was a kid. In turn, I followed my local team, the Brewers. They were not very good during my life, but that was fine because going out to the ballpark was always fun. I don't think following this team is going to be any fun for me the rest of the season. Thankfully I did not watch today's game, only followed along at work. In all my years of sports fandom, this could be the most difficult loss to stomach. Ever. I still love the Brewers and will continue to support them until my dying day. However, following this team right now isn't good for me. Yah, I get down when they lose. So, I wish the Brewers the best for the rest of the season, but I am going to be watching from afar. As for Corey Hart, please demand a trade in the off-season so we don't have to put up with you lack of a brain next season. You have officially taken over for Hardy as my least favorite Brewer.

I second your motion, even if there wasn't a motion. I, too, am stepping back because this year's emotional investment has just been too damn painful.

Just pathetic. It's like they don't even care anymore. No heart, no passion. It's probably best they don't make the playoffs. A 3-game sweep would have sucked after waiting so long.

Definitely not renewing my tickets next year. If I want to see a local team just go through the motions, I'll watch the Bucks. It's cheaper and won't take up way too much of my summer like these bums did.

NFC Championship last year was way worse to stomach.

I couldn't have said this better. I feel like those words came out of my mouth. Well put. Most disappointing loss I have ever watched.

Wow Goldy, you nailed it!

I said to my wife when I got home from work...." why, why do I do this to myself.I am not watching this anymore." ....after the 9th inning, I was so craby. My stomach felt like Prince just went Manny Parra on it. I even caught myself getting short tempered with my kids.....now that's just not who I want to be.....I also, am done with this bunch of losers.

Very nicely said Goldy!
Keep up the good work!

Remind me again why we are Packer and Brewer fans....

1. Super Bowl loss to Denver
2. Playoff game loss to Philly ( 4th and 26)
3. NFC Championship last year
4. Today's game
5. July 3, 2008 vs Arizona ( 6 runs in the 9th)

I am still pissed about these games!

My husband, a die hard Cub fan, has endured more indignity, shame, embarrassment and down right being let down, so GO CUBS!!!!! It's about time!!! Keep your heads up but with the Cub in your division, it might be tough the next couple of years! Might think of going back to the American League...
Today's Game was the most awesome game EVER! If you were a Cub fan, you would understand!! Cheers!

You had to bring up 4th and 26, didn't you? The worst ever. I'll never forgive Darrin Sharper. 4th and 26, where is he? 28 yards past the line of scrimmidge. Great idea.

And the one guy who was closest to making a play was....Bhaw Jue. Bhaw Fuckin Jue!!!

I still think the worst loss ever by the Packers was the 1999 (1998 season) play-off game at San Francisco. The no-call on the Rice fumble was just terrible. That wasn't even close to not being a fumble. Fine, still have a chance to win the game. A rookie Sharper is out of position again and lets a TO, with bad hands at that point in his career, catch one over the middle for the winning TD. Last Holmgren game, end of that run for the Packers.

To the Cubs fan, unless your husband is over 40, he hasn't really suffered more than us Brewers fans. But thanks for playing.

goldy - while it is no fun to play the "who has suffered the most" game, i guess it all depends on your opionion.

if suffering is a franchise record of 332 games under .500 over 40 years (.474) while finishing above third just twice in the last 26 years ... then the brewers win.

if suffering is making the playoffs five times in the same period (26 years) and being a matter of outs from the WS before two really horrible things happen ... well the cubs win.

and commenters here have said they prefer to be comfortably mediocre, as it's less painful.

Anyone who has his wife standing up for him in a blog is so pathetically emascluated that words cannot further describe it. I'm happy that guy has the Cubs, because he truly has nothing else.
