Impressive

If nobody else is going to say it, I will.

Yovani Gallardo is incredible. To pitch like that, in the thick of the pennant race after missing 5 months shows you that the Brewers will be in good hands at the top of their rotation for years to come, regardless of what happens this offseason.

I know it was the Pirates, but they put out a stronger lineup than the Cubs did against the Mets last night, and those Cubs managed to score 5 runs off of Pedro Martinez. Point being, these are major league hitters and Yo went 4 innings, giving up 1 run and striking out 7.

Incredible. Hopefully this inspires a certain other pitcher on the Brewers pitching staff to sack up in a similar fashion and try to help win this thing.

Damn, from a post on BF.net it looks like Hardy hurt his hand in the celebration last night and is likely done for the year, so we'll have to have Counsell play SS the rest of the year. Ugh. Ugh. Ugh.

I was going to add to my player T-shirt collection of 1 this off season. Braun is the obvious choice. I like the guy and he will be around a long time. Gallardo was my other thought. Probably will not be as popular of a shirt, at least until he is an All Star next year. After last nights performance, I'll be going Gallardo.

If Hardy is hurt, it's likely not from the celebration.

Goldy was at the game last night. He probably attacked Hardy with a tire iron or something.

I stood in the right field corner all game trying to decide when the appropriate time would be to run out in the field and kick Hart in the nuts. At this point, I would take the tire iron to him before Hardy. Does this mean we are looking at Counsell at short and Lamb at 3rd against righties? Ugh.

I don't know why they don't let Escobar at least play one of the games. He's a rookie and just got to the team, wasn't around last year for the collapse and really shouldn't feel the pressure the other guys are feeling, basically playing with house money as nobody will blame him if they lose. Plus the opposing pitchers won't have time to figure him out in 3 days.

@anon...this isn't audition for 2009, this is a real deal pennant race. A guy with < 10 MLB at bats would never start over someone like Counsell or even Hall...even with Yost managing.

I don't think Escobar needs an audition. He's your future SS. Whether he plays this weekend or not in place of Hardy, that I don't know.
