8 more years! 8 more years!

Ladies in Milwaukee...stock up on extra panties now!

The man, the myth, the legend that is Ryan Braun has officially been locked up by the Beermakers for a cool $45 million for 8 years, including the current season. I'm assuming they are going to restructure his current year payment, so essentially we got him for 5.625 Million a year.

This is just a great deal for everyone. Great for Braun, the team, management, & the fans. It's a good time to be a Brewer fan. EVERYONE should be excited about this deal. It's the largest in team history, and it's the biggest deal signed by one of the core position guys since Bill Hall signed two years ago.

I have indirectly stated before my thoughts on Ryan Braun. I'm a HUGE fan. I love the way he plays. I love the confidence. I love the swing. He gives great interviews. Loves the fans. Has no problem watching Corey Hart's kids on Friday night so Corey and his wife can sneak in dinner and a movie (or not).

I'm looking forward to the "Ryan Braun era." Assuming he maintains any sort of home run pace he is currently on and he plays out the entire contract, he is probably going to hit the most home runs in Brewer history. The sky is the limit. I expect big things, and I think he's ready for it.

BTW...baseball has funny economics. Bill Hall makes more money per year than Ryan Braun. I'm just saying...

So it works out that he is giving up 2 years of free agency, right? That's a kick ass contract.

And the idiot Cub fans who can't stand Braun because he kills them nearly every game are now saying he'll be a bust, blah blah blah. Ha ha ha. The Era of Braun is upon us.

Hart should be next in line. Stay away from Fielder until we know just how much of a fluke last year was.

Wow, what a steal! 8 years of (hopefully) 35 bombs and 110 RBIs for less than $6 mil per??? Thats less than Jenks was making!

Hell, 8 years from now, guys like Brian Shouse will be making $5 mil per year!!

It looks like a steal for the Brewers when you just do the simple math - but remember that he would have been making around $500,000 for the next couple of years during his pre-arbitration years, with no choice in the matter.

When you factor in that difference in salary for the next couple of years, plus the time value of money (right Woz?), it's a good deal for Braun too. As long as he doesn't piss all of that money away on cars and boats or other bad investments.

This happened 2 weeks after his buddy Tulo in Colorodo messes up his quad and goes on the DL. I'm sure Troy was quite happy that he signed the long term deal when he did.

Any chance Tulo guided Braun a little bit on this one? Just a theory...

I think its great for the organizatio as a whole that Braun signed this contract. I know it's only 2 years of free agency that this contract covers, but we have this guy locked up until he is 32 years old. He is makign a commitment to spend a big chunk of the next 7-plus years of his life in Milwaukee. Braun is a guy who grew up in LA and went to college in Miami. It's nice to see that he is willing to play in Milwaukee. Hopefully the signing, along with some persuasion by Braun can convince some of the other youngsters to sign or bring in some FAs. Not saying its going to be the same as God telling Reggie to sign with the Pack, but it's a start.
