Former Brewer Lary Sorensen earns his first Billups of the Week Award by getting caught for his apparent SEVENTH DUI. In case you don't know, the Billups panel is tolerant of stars up to their 6th DUI, but their 7th opens them up for nomination.
"Former major league pitcher and Detroit Tigers announcer Lary Sorensen has been arrested with a blood alcohol level six times Michigan’s legal limit in his seventh drunken driving case, officials said."
"Drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in 1976, Sorensen won 18 games in 1978."
Check out his career numbers. He actually wasn't that bad of a pitcher, although I will have to admit I have no idea who this guy was. He is a Billups to me at this point. Nobody is saying that going out for a taste of the sacrament is a bad thing...just call a cab dude!
Any Brewer-fan veterans out there that remember any stories about this guy from the old days? I'm only good from 93 to the present day.

Soerensen was one of 11 players suspended in 1986 by then Commissioner Peter Ueberroth for cocaine abuse. Obviously his troubles started early in life. He didn't wind up serving the suspension - they all got off with just a slap on the wrist. He was a promising young pitcher, making the All-Star Game as a Brewer in his second season at the age of 22. Went downhill from there. It's becoming pretty obvious why.
Boy, I thought the link to his "career numbers" was going to be his previous DUIs and drug offense stats. Someone ought to create a reference site for that.
