Mike Cameron?

According to Tommy H, the Brewers are actively pursuing Mike Cameron. Interesting on a couple levels. First, this could set off a few dominoes with Hall and/or Braun. Cameron plays CF, and plays it well (Gold Glove in 2006). Is Hall traded? Moved to 3rd and Braun goes to RF? Second, Cameron is suspended for the first 25 games due to testing positive for a banned stimulant. Signing Cameron and trading Hall preseason would create a CF hole for the first month of the season. Interesting stuff.

"Yet another source has confirmed to me tonight that the Brewers are actively pursuing free agent center fielder Mike Cameron."

It just seems weird to sign a CF since everyone's been focusing on LF/3B so far. So maybe....Hall 3B/Braun LF/Cameron CF??? Maybe Cameron CF/ Braun 3B/ Trade Billy&Vargas for legitimate LF???

At an absolute minimum, that would mean Hall is moved from CF with possibly Braun moving as well. It could also mean Billy might be included with one of the expendable pitchers in a deal sending him out of town.

If this all goes down, hat tip to WOZ. I believe he had predicted Hall getting moved from the end of the '07 season.

There are so many possibilities here I can't even begin to fathom what might happen.

I think its safe to say that Bill Hall will either be playing LF or traded...assuming this deal happens.

On paper, with the signing, why not just move Hall to LF and be done with it? He's got his money, I can understand the mental part of moving to a 3rd position in 3 years but LF is not that big of a change from CF...lets be serious here.

Vargas needs to be traded...he has no worth on this team. What guys are out there that we could go after in LF or 3B in which we use Billy/Vargas as bait?

That's what I'm saying too.....you throw a Hall/Vargas/+prospect trade toward a team, and you should be able to pry lose a pretty decent 3B/LF option. That'd be fine by me.....and we could stop talking about Joltin' Joe Dillon playing LF then at some point this season.

Lets just hope that outfielder they trade for isn't David DeJesus

This makes sense only if Hall is dealt. Otherwise, we've just added another low OBP, high strikeout, right hand hitting guy to the lineup.

However, if Hall is then packaged as part of a deal that brings back a LF or 3B who is a left handed hitting high OBP guy, this makes a lot of sense. Cameron's defense is great, and he certainly can't be any worse than Hall was at the plate last year.

Well, it appears the Cameron deal is done. Now we just need to find out if everybody gets moved around because of this......
