Westward Ho!

The Crew start a 6 game SoCal trip to LA and San Diego: "Drink it in." It's Soupy vs Brett Tomko in game 1. I had no idea Bett Tomko still pitched. As of the middle of the second:
  • The Glue with 4 "obviously's" in the pregame interview.
  • I like the revised lineup of: Weeks, Gwynn, JJ, Prince 1-4. Two speed guys before the mashers who can hopefully get on base in front of the unconscious JJ.
  • Prince just destroyed the baseball to right center....just moosed it.
  • Jeff Kent update: yep, still has the porn stache.

That's getting closer to the dream lineup for me. Against a lefty remove Gwynn & Captain obvious(ly), and insert Hart & Mench. Braun at 3rd rounds out MY lineup, but I'm not delusional and I understand that won't happen for a while. By the way, TG is batting under .200 so maybe it should happen sooner rather than later....

Take a look at Mench's OBP compared to his batting average...what a loser. The guy has walked once in 109 AB's.

By comparison, Gabe Gross has walked 11 times in 44 AB's. Time for a new debate as to who is expendible.

Tony Gwynn is going to be a stud.

One walk in 109 ABs!!! No way. I really liked that lineup last night...even before they put up 9 runs. Speed on top, dropping Billy, I liked it. Of course it looks really good when Weeks gets 4 hits. Turnbow's ERA is going up and up and up....

The highlight of west coast games is going to bed at 11 in the top of the 6th with a 8 run lead and thinking back to how many times I have done this in the past, only to be disappointed in the morning anf now, not being able to sleep well because of it.

True Mench isn't the OBP beast Prince is, but who else you going to bat against a lefty? Gross, Gwynn, Jenks? All lefties and I think none of them, especially the glue, can hit southpaws. Mench is batting .292 against lefties, and that's during his current slump. And don't tell me Gwynn is batting .333 VS. lefties b/c that's in like 9 AB's. Gross is still the most expendable. He can't hit lefties, and he is #4 Vs. righties. I've got Jenkins, Gwynn, and Hall Vs. Righties probably in that order. Gross can't break into EITHER platoon.
