Old School Nintendo

I, for one, spent waaaay too much of my childhood on these: CNNSI.com's list of the top 5 Nintendo sports games. Substitute "Ice Hockey" with "Blades of Steel" and the list would be even better. You can't stop the two headed monster that is Chrisian Okoye and Barry Word!

Also: Tom Verducci with a good piece on the Brewers, even its the 84th time I've seen an article entitled: "Somthing's Brewin'"

Baseball Stars deserved an honorable mention......

I think both Blades of Steel and Ice Hockey were excellent games. Blades of Steel gets points just for the "Blades of Steel" saying in the opening screen. Plus, I never understood what was said when you passed the puck.Sure sounded like "Pass the ball". Ice Hockey was great as well. You had to have the correct combo of medium, skinny and fat guys. I had one buddy who could never beat me at this game. Pretty sure I made him cry. Good Times.

AP-
Dead on. I hought Baseball Stars was the best Nintendo game ever. It was ahead of its time in being more than just playing the game. I liked the guy walking down the road after you released him.

I liked how you could raise more revenue by playing the all female "lady stars" team. It's funny because if the WNBA has taught us anything, it's that when you put a bunch of women in a traditionally male dominated sport people will turn out in droves and spinn the turnstiles like a top.

I always imagined "press the pass" for blades of steel. I have no idea what that might mean.....

RBI Baseball was king. Every guy was shaped like David Wells. The fielders "sliding" to make a play. Awesome. I once found a sweet RBI fan website...might have to look for that again.

Double Dribble was also great, when you hit a 3 pointer it said "Bishgwell!" Whatever that ment!

Come on guys, Tecmo is still king of all games.

See if you can download the "comeback music" on that site. There was nothing better than hearing that music in the playoffs and you realize Barry Sanders is coming back to the game.

I vote for Excitebike slightly over RC-ProAm as the best racing game...

I don't want to "steal" these comments, but I wanted to tell the Chuckie Hacks folks that your "pennant run" is not up to date...
come on...get with the program

From: the first woman to post on your blog!

I second that ExciteBike post! Those hills were awesome, you could FLY over those suckers!

I had two of the stupidest baseball games ever. One was called "Base Wars", I think, and it was played with robots and there were no force outs. You had to fight the runner at 1st to get the out. Also had "Baseball Simulator 1000". In this game you could pick up special pitches and I remember one of them blew the batter up. Good Times.

I firmly agree with the fact that Tecmo bowl is king. Actually, Super Tecmo ruled! I loved finding the secret teams..my Tim Rosenbagh and Garth Jax lead Cardinals trounced many an unsuspecting teams.

And of course who could forget Pete Chilcutt in Tecmo Basketball? I know Mcmanus still has nightmares about him...and the fact that Constantine Popa never panned out.

Goldy,
I too had basewars and I thought it was great. Didn't you fire the ball out of like an arm cannon to pitch and you could buy your robots all kinds of like mechanical upgrades? Honorable mention for Base Wars.

Seriously, Anonymous, are you hot??
