Dodgers 5, Brewers 1

Last time we faced a right handed pitcher, we scored 9 runs. How about using that same lineup? What a concept? Ned disagreed. Granted, Brad Penny is a much better pitcher than Brett Tomko. Just thought they would see how that lineup would perform again. And how about seeing every bodies favorite failed experiment...the Counsinino debacle on the field simultaneously! .231 and .187. Sweet! Everybody at once....RY-AN, BRA-UN, clap, clap, clapclapclap, RY-AN, BRA-UN...

Oh, and its good to see Prince almost kicking the life out of the other teams 1B coach...who was a former middle infielder. Advantage, Prince.

I have waited for the Brew Crew to be in first this late in the season for what seems like my entire life. I never actually thought it would be possible that when it DID happen, I would hate the team as much as I do right now. This team is awful; I want to win because our team is good not because our division is bad. We won't have the luxury of playing another NL central team in the playoffs, so you're going to have to find a way to starting winning baseball games against actual baseball teams. Plus, I want to know why, Graf, Gross, and Dessens are holding down a roster spot. Graf is terrible and Gross & Dessens never play. WTF?

Gross & Dessens never play because they are the 24th & 25th guys on the roster. Gross is the 6th outfielder, which means he gets the occasional spot start and is a pinch hitter; Dessens is the long reliever (aka, mop-up inning guy). I do agree with you the Graffanino is terrible (you won't hear any different on this website).

I can't believe your comments about "hating" this team. 5 SOLID guys in the starting rotation. The CORE of the team are a bunch of studs under the age of 25 that are overachieving. Hell, even the Glue is holding is own this year. In my 14 years of following the Brewers consistently I've never seen a better team.

Yes, there are some bullpen holes & hitting lapses due to mediocre 3rd basemen, but those problems will be addressed in the upcoming months via trades (which Melvin & Annastasio vow to be a part of), and subsequent studs waiting in the minor leagues.

For the most part, the playoffs are a crap shoot. Any team can get hot and ride a hot hitter or a couple hot starters. The key is getting there over a 162 game season, and I'm confident the Brewers are going to be consistent enough this season to do that for the reasons I mentioned above.

"This team is awful" ??? You're an idiot if you really think that.

Solid starters compared to who...the NL central or the legitamate playoff teams (Say....mets, Padres, LA, should I keep going?) in the NL? Cordero is fantastic, but who is our all star starter? Who is our Ace? Capuano has been terrible lately and he typically starts the season strong, right? Bush, can't stay consistant. And I love Sheets but for some reason the guy just does not get the W. So far Vargas looks the best, and forgive me if I think that MIGHT not last.

Studs in the minor leagues do me no good in the majors, and it'd be nice to figure out if Braun/Gallardo are the real deal BEFORE the trade deadline. So you know, we can address THAT at the trade deadline. Yes those guys other than TG are the back of the roster, but how the F*** does that justify them being on the club over Braun? It sure would be nice to have a pitcher who could log more than 15 innings piched (ED) in the first 42 games in our bullpen, another lefty perhaps? I won't even get started on how ineffective Yost has been.

You mention "6th outfielder" like it's common practice to carry 6 when 2 (Hall and recently Gwynn) you can make a case for playing everyday, regardless of the pitching arm of the opposing pitcher. How about a speed guy that you could pinch run in tight situations in place of GG, that would be so much more useful. I love Estrada, but attempted base theives are like %90 against him. Hardy is not going to hit 50 HR's this year. Prince probably will not either. I am sorry to burst everyone's HR bubble. How in the hell does this team of prolific strikeout artists plan on scoring when the HR's stop flying out of the park?

Lastly, I am sure people are getting sick of hearing about the kids in AAA. Do yourself a favor and go check out some "top 100 prospects" rankings by like Baseball America or any other group. Most have BOTH RB & YG ranked in the top 25. BFD, right? It would be, if maybe 80% of the other top 25 guys haven't already played and produced in the bigs. Off the top of my head, Lincecom w/ SF, "Salty" w/ Atlanta, Pence w/ Houston, PHughes from the Yanks, Danks from the WHite Sox, The 3B whose name I forgot from the Dodgers the other night......All of these other teams, who by the way have historically been far more successful than we have, see no problem w/ calling up a stud from the minors as soon as possible. What makes us so special that we can say, "no....wait it out. We don't have any use for a player who might actually be more talented." Especially since we have all of those useless roster spots that you so clearly pointed out. I guess I'm an idiot.....

......and saying it's the best Brewer Club in 14 years is like saying Moe was the most intelligent of the 3 stooges. It's a pretty relative statement.....

I guess I'm so playoff-starved, I dont care how many wins it takes...I'll take a 79 win division champ at this point. Then hopefully get white hot like the 06 Cards.

As for the roster, with Prince and RWs defense being better than expected, they can afford a not so great glove at 3rd (Braun). Which makes it inexcuseable not to have Braun up...after he's fully healed from the wrist injury. I know it's great to have "veteran leaders in the clubhouse" and that stuff, but would they really miss Graffy? He's only been around for about 10 months. Keep Counse as a utility/pinch hitter and bring up Braun. In the OF, trade Mench. His little fluery is over. Make GG the pinch hitter, give Hart all of Mench's ABs, start TGJ in RF vs RHPs.

D-Bow is starting to worry me. His ERA is climbing up and up, now over 4.00. If he implodes, it basically starts a chain reaction. Wise would probably stay as the 7th inning guy. Villa could be a great 8th inning guy, but he's too valuble as a long reliever. Who do you give Villa's innings to? Dessens? Bring up Zach Jackson? Yo? I would be for that. The Twins have a good history of putting their young starters in the bully first (Santana, Liriano).

This team isnt bound for 95+ wins. That's fine. Like I said, I'll take any playoff baseball...it's been too long!!! Now next year, that's a different story.

That was easily the longest comment I've ever done.

Brad....I'd say for the most part I completely agree. I'd just get rid off Gross rather than Mench. That way you can keep your "veteran leadership" and a decent bat VS. lefties. I don't think we need another OF who bats lefty. However, you are about %300 right on with the theme of your email. With the way everyone is playing, I will reiterate your point that it is inexcusable for RB to still be in AAA. Spot on.

How come nobody ever mentions how piss poor the AL East is?
