NFL Over/Under Wins

Vegas (who is right waaaaay more often than you or I) has came out with 2009 NFL over/under win totals.

The Packers are at 9. Minnesota is also at 9 while the Bears are 8.5. Vegas looks for a hotly contested NFC North, I guess.

Only 4 teams in double digits: Pats 11.5, Steelers 10.5, Colts 10, and Giants 10. Detroit brings up the rear with 5.

I like Miami OVER 7, San Diego OVER 9.5, Kansas City UNDER 8, and Tampa UNDER 6.5.

Take it to the Bizank!

Just so everyone is clear, Vegas is trying to get action on both sides of each line that it puts up.

So just because they put the Packers at 9 or whatever doesn't mean that they think the Packers will win 9 games - it just means that they think enough clowns from Wisconsin will bet the over at 9 to offset the number of people who will bet the under because the team, well, won 6 games last year and didn't get any better this offseason.

Why wouldn't they put it at 7 or 8 so everyone bets the over?

Matt - because you think they didn't get better, you going with 4 wins this year? 5, maybe?

I like Minny over 9, even if Favre doesn't play this year.

Packers were statistically one of the most unlucky teams in NFL history last year and should have won 8-9 games easily based on the numbers, so 9 wins this year isn't a stretch at all with the draft picks and Rodgers with a full year of experience.

The Packers reek of an 11-5 team that gets to the Conference finals.

The sky is unlimited when Scott Stapp is your QB.

Sadly, even as a lifelong Packer fan, I can't find any reason to believe they'll win 9 games this season. Mark me down for under.

Every line they put up: their goal is for half of the people to bet one way and half the other. That way they can take their percentage and be done with it... casinos don't gamble!

Doesn't taking the under on all three NFC North teams seem like the obvious play? Will 2/3 of them really get to 9+ wins at the same time?

Jim, I was thinking the same thing for all 4 North teams. The O/U for the North is 31.5 wins combined. The North has been under 31.5 wins 6 out of 7 years, and it took the Packers going 13-3 in 2007 to make it over. (35 wins). It seems like a safe bet, where you had a real good chance of splitting and a decent chance to win 3 of 4.

I know this isn't a big NBA blog, but as fans of sport in general, the game winner Lebron James hit last night was one of the more exciting last second shots I've ever seen. If Cleveland goes on to win championship that will probablly be one of the more iconic shots in basketball history. Did anybody actually watch the game?

what is this nba you speak of?
