Brian Shouse - Why Not?

I've never really heard a good explanation of not bringing "Shousie" back. Yes, he's old (39) but he's a crafty lefty set-up man...those guys can pitch into their late 50s. And, yes, I also know he was pretty poor with inherited runners. Maybe this was because Ned Yost was f_cking clueless and didn't know how to use him. Need more proof? The Brewers finished 92-70, yet were only 34-35 when Shouse appeared. Was it because Shouse sucked (2.81 ERA, 1.169 WHIP), or Ned was clueless? I say sign him, he can't cost all that much.

I wonder if they discussed things and he wants to much for a situational pitcher? Otherwise It makes no sense not sign him. I don't want to hear when the season starts that we don't have any lefty arms.

I'm actually surprised no one else has picked him up yet. He was pretty much lights out last year.

You're under Shouse Arrest...

I heard he is only interested in a multi year deal and so far no one has stepped up. I'd be ok with two years. but again. In Doug I Trust.

Wouldn't surprise me if he did end up back here for one year.

Yeah, I think the Crew only want one year and he wants two. That said, I have a one-word-and-two-letter response to "Why not sign Shouse?": R.J. Swindle.

If he can pitch even remotely like he did in the minors, he's going to be awesome.

if you look at Shouse's split stats he was lights out against left handed batters. What killed his stats was Ned's insistance on using him against righties. Better management will go a long way this year.
