.
They did everything in their power to lose the game at the end:
.
- Unable to punch it in from the 1-yard line late in a game, instead settling for a FG? Check.
.
- Unable to cover a kickoff? Check.
.
- Unable to keep noodle-armed QB Jake Delhomme from throwing deep on them? Check.
.
- Unable to move the ball in the 2-minute drill, down 4 points with 2 time outs left? Check.
.
By the way, star QB Aaron Rodgers and his $13 million salary this year is now 1-4 in games decided by 6 points or less this season. Since 1999, Brett Favre is 34-23 in that situation, a .596 winning percentage. I'd go back farther for Favre, but I couldn't find the statistics. This is obviously crude statistical analysis, but if you apply Favre's winning % in close games over the past decade to those 5 games this year, the Packers pick up 2 more wins this year.
.
But by all means, keep it up Ted, you're doing just a super job. I will now go back to not caring about the Packers.

Matt what was BFavre's recordin his first 12 starts?
Brett Favre wouldn't have been making his first 12 starts in 2008, so I don't think that is relevant.
Just for grins, I went back to 1992 game results, the first year Favre started any games in the NFL. He was 4-0 that year in games decided by 6 points or less.
For his career, he's 53-36 in games decided by 6 points or less. Still a .596 winning percentage.
Does Favre play defense, or special teams, or does he rush the passer? No. There is nothing wrong with this team that Favre would fix.
How many of those close games did Reggie White win, Matt?
Ever hear of something called leadership? This years squad is utterly devoid of it. That's what happens when you run off the only player on your squad who's actually accomplished anything. TT is a douche
Yah, Favre really could help us right now... he was a great defen- Oh, wait. He's a quarterback. Where we've been deficient this year has be D and special teams. "Favre's winning % in close games" doesn't cover Smith or tackle the return man.
Stuff the Favre.
Addendum-
TT and McCarthy Suck.
BTW
Matt Ryan's leadership factor must be off the charts. I mean, humans can't even begin to comprehend the depths of his leadership.
The guy pisses leadership is what I'm saying.
When did Matt start caring about the Packers?
Yeah, Favre would have covered Steve Smith better. Idiots.
Packers with the ball on their 20-ish.
1:30 (or whatever) left in the game.
Down 4.
2 timeouts.
Anyone think that Rodgers was going to win that game for Green Bay? Anyone? Anyone? Yeah, I thought so.
This has nothing to do with defense, special teams, whatever. I'm not saying Rodgers lost the game yesterday. I'm just saying he didn't win it.
Thank you to all of you that truely understand that Favre wouldn't have helped this team much. Yesterday Kampman got 2 sacks, but guess what Jake D still had 4 seconds to throw the damn ball on those plays. Our DLine/LB's are below average/poor, and I don't care how good your secondary is if the QB(other than Daunte Culpepper) can sit there for 5-6 seconds someone will be open.
Arod played a perfect 2nd half other than that last throw, he will learn. We mortgage this season for the future, all business's have to sometimes take a step back to take 2 steps forward.
I'm done debating the Favre thing, we have all moved on, it's over. I just can't wait until it's March 20th this year and Favre is debating whether to come back for the 7th straight offseason and the NY media is ON HIS ASS. The Jets owe him nothing and I hope they kick him to the curb like TT did.
Also if Favre was so damn great how come there was only 2 teams interested in him, and the most we got for him was a 2nd-4th round pick.
Hey, Matt-
Fav-ruh has thrown plenty of goddamned interceptions that LOST games in the last two minutes.
Rodgers could have "won" that game if the defense actually, um, played defense. Instead, they did their best Gagne impersonation.
300 yards, 3 TDs and the only INT at the end when they knew he had to throw deep.
Yeah, Rodgers sucks. You Favre guys are just amazing.
The choice was 10-12 years of Rodgers vs. 1-2 years of Favre and then someone else that wasn't going to be Rodgers.
TT made the right choice.
DOGY, Rodgers could have "won" that game by driving the team 80 yards for the winning TD, regardless of how piss poor the defense of special teams were during the game.
Is that accurate?
I'll grant that Favre has thrown a boatload of interceptions in his career, but it's clear from the stats that 60% of the time, he won close games every time.
Matt-
You could also say that Rodgers already "Won" the game with the previous drive.
I'm not arguing that Favre was a goody. I'm just saying that even if we still had him, we'd be 5-7. If not worse. In the last few years I'd feared when Brett would get the ball in the last few minutes because it very rarely led to something good. And I have no bad feelings twards you. I just don't feel the the Favre path is the right one to be walking down.
I'd be more upset about Ted Thompsons drafting habits/personel choices. If we still had Ryan, the Panthers wouldn't have always had such a short field to work on. If we'd not drafted 17 million wideouts, maybe we could have drafted defensive players.
Look... Favre wouldn't have "won" that game yesterday. I would argue that he would have throw at least one more interception than Rodgers did, and they wouldn't have been in the position they were yesterday to have the lead with less than two minutes remaining.
as a colts fan, i can tell you that it is useful to have a QB who can lead the team on game-winning drives when the defense has crapped the bed (again).
I'll grant that Favre has thrown a boatload of interceptions in his career, but it's clear from the stats that 60% of the time, he won close games every time.
But only while wearing Sex Panther
"Ugh,it smells like Bigfoot's dick!"
Brett Favre single handedly lost the game for the Jets yesterday.
