Next Brewers Manager?

Who do we want as our next Brewers manager?

Names that are out there are:

A. Bob Brenly
B. Buck Schowalter
C. Ken Macha
D. Willie Randolph

Personally, I'm undecided.

Macha seemed to always do pretty well with the A's, but then got fired by Billy Beane despite his success. Brenly won a World Series but appears to be a buffoon whenever I watch a Cubs game on WGN. Schowalter never lasts more than 3 seasons in any one spot. Randolph piloted an historic collapse in 2007, but since it happened again in 2008 is it perhaps the players' fault?

I think I'm leaning towards rooting for Macha to get the job.

Nothing is really jumping out at me either. Sorry to say it but I like a good former catcher. Ok Yost didn't work out but catchers are former players so they can relate, and they also are used to calling (or managing) a game. So Willy is out. Plus I hate the Mets (dad taught me that). Buck is out he played minor league ball only and was a 1st baseman.

That leaves us with Macha he played a combined 4 games behind the dish in his minor league career or Bob Brenly former Giants/ Blue Jays back stop.

Either or for me. I guess I like Macha because he isn’t tied with the Cubs but I like Brenly for his knowledge of the NL and catching background.

In the end comes back to the fact that I'm not all that excited about any of these guys.

Just as long as they hire a batting coach that instills some plate discipline.

As long as its not Schowalter, I'm fine with any of the other 3. Would prefer Macha.

I'd like Davey Johnson, who has won about everywhere and is a veteran presence.

But since he's apparently not a serious contender, I'd prefer Macha.

As long as it is someone who has no ties whatsoever to the '82 team.....I'm good.

Gabe Kapler.

Bring back the player/manager.

If those are my only choices, I'd take Macha. If it weren't for the Blue Jays re-hiring him during the season, I would have been a fan of Cito Gaston. In fact I was pulling for him to get the Brewers job before they finally canned Garner.

What happened to the Bobby Valentin rumors?

I echo Goldy & AP. Please no Buck (the man is more arrogant then Yost) or ANYBODY from the 82 team. I guess I'll hope for Brenly.

I've been agreeing with AP too much lately. This needs to be resolved. AP...quick...say something foolish.

In today's J-S, Hunt throws his support behing Brenley. In other news, I now do not support Brenley for manager.

Damn. I just came on to endorse Brenly.

Can we still get Sveum?

Anything is better than Yost.

Thank GOD.

Ummmm, am I still in the running?

Ummm, Ricky should be batting leadoff.

Ummm, where am I?

Goldy, you beat me to the punch.

Mike Hunt's support of Brenly is now the key reason why Brenly should not get the job, in my view.

Were we in the playoffs?!

I was napping.

I'm guaranteed this job...

Affirmative action bitches!

SHIP IT.

Normally, I would agree with Willie, but anastasio(sp) is a business man and will hire the best guy for the top position. Then fill in the bench with affirmative action window dressing.

Woz-I had that same concern the last time we agreed. Don't worry, I rarely go long without saying/doing something foolish.

Mike Hunt? I thought he was busted with Mike Bartley for hand action down in the third ward.

Anastasio? Is he going to have to cancel their tour dates at Hampton, VA in March in order to tend to the needs of the club? How will Phish handle his absence?
