I think that definition #2 here pretty much sums up the CC Sabathia trade in my mind.
Without getting ahead of ourselves here or being complete homers...let's think about this for just a second. IF, IF, IF the current roster stays relatively healthy (mainly Sheets & Sabathia) this is a playoff team. Great shot at the wild card, good shot at the division. It's going to be a fun second half of the season. It's going to be fun starting a 5 game playoff series and trotting out Sheets, Sabathia, & Parra. That's just a sick rotation right there.
Time to play arm chair GM. Whose spot does CC take? The "easy" choice is that Stetter will be sent back down, and probably McClung will move back to the bullpen (to rest his apparently dead arm) giving Bush the final rotation spot.
Anybody give any thought to maybe keeping 13 pitchers on the roster until the September call-up? This will keep all arms fresh through the dog days of August.
I'd like to see Joe Dillon sent back down. I like him...I really do. I just think that Mitch "Unleash the Fury" Stetter has more value on this team then what Joe Dillon can do with a spot pitch hit appearance every now and again. Even with Dillon down on any given night we are working with Branyan/Hall, Counsell, Kapler, & Rivera coming off the bench.
