Monday Cubs Preview

Let's forget that somehow the Brewers lost 2 out of 3 at home against the worst team in the Central (at the time). Let's forget how Jeff Suppan has been freefalling the last month (take a look at his splits for the last 28 days...4 starts...yikes!). If you want to read about that, click here for Tom H's rant...that's not what this post is about.

What the Brewers are about to do the next 4 days is show their dominance over the supposed "best team" in the NL. It's going to be a minimum of 3 wins, while most likely a sweep. That's how confident I am. I might not even watch the games. Even though I have tickets to 2 of the games, I might not even go. I might give them to a homeless deaf boy.

So for the next 4 games (starting today), a Chuckie Hacks team member will preview that day's game. Since I just came up with this idea, I'll go first.

Monday, June 28th...Brewers v Cubs.
Two left handers pitch tonight. The good news is, one of them is just your basic guy and the other is the Guerrianimal reigning CY Young winner. Fortunately for the Brewers, the Guerrianimal is pitching for them. Can CC pitch 4 consecutive complete games? I don't know. What I do know is that the dude has been flat out siiiiiiick since coming over here. At the minimum, he WILL keep the Brewers in this game through 6 or 7 innings. Let's just hope the Crew can strike early and tack on a few, that way Ned won't be tempted to pull our horse and let him go deep into the game and hand the ball directly off to Torres.

Keep your eyes on...
The big 4 for each team: Braun, Hart, Fielder, & Hardy for the Brewers; Lee, Ramirez, Soto, & Soriano for the Cubs. A power surge by any of these guys can win either a game or an entire series (See...Ryan Braun...Cardinals series).

Prediction...
You gotta like the Brewers tonight with CC on the mound and Braun on fire. It feels like you shouldn't lose games with the big fella on the mound. I'm feeling 7 strong tonight from CC, an early 3 run shot from Braun in the 3rd inning, with rbi singles from Corey Hart and Bill Hall. Brewers 6, Cubs 2. Woz Guarantee.

I'm never going to another game with Suppan on the mound the rest of the year. Don't care if I already have tickets as part of my package. I'm done with him. He's taken over the 'big inning that loses the game' gimmick from Bush. He's stealing more money from the team than Gagne these days.

As for the Cubs, eh, not that excited like everyone else. The series will probably be split, probably with the Brewers taking tonight and Wednesday and we'll still have 50+ games left to play.

But I'm looking forward to going to the games and seeing all the "clever" t-shirts fans of both teams will bring out to try and get the other fans pissed off.

Me, I plan on wearing a Cubs shirt, only to rip it off Hogan-style at the end of the game to reveal my true colors underneath.

This Soup leaves a bad aftertaste..
By the way...it's July 28th not June 28th although I would take our score from June 28th

And there goes the sweep in the game with the biggest pitching advantage.

You were right, it was a sweep! Wait...who swept who?
