Now this is what a legitimate chat/mailbag is supposed to look like.
Yesterday Jerry Crasnick held a ESPN.com chat about the NL Central...focusing on the Cardinals, Cubs, & Brewers.
Essentially, his final verdict about the year's potential outcome for the division is nothing new and what I said last week. This is the Cubs division to lose. They just score too many runs. When talking about the Brewers he (and the other commentors) sticked with the basics: The pitching is in trouble with Yo going down and Gagne REALLY shaping up to be a bust. There was one Rickie Weeks bash in there, which I found amusing.
There were some positives though...mentions of Mike Cameron and perhaps the weather having an effect on the offense (anybody put any stock in that???). A big point which he reiterated twice was that even after all the Crews troubles so far (lackluster offense, Gagne & Yo, starters not going deep, Rickie essentially sucking) they are still above .500 and still right in the race.
This echoed what Matt said last week. Even after all this crap in the month of April, the Crew is still right there. We have to catch a break sooner or later. Prince is going to homer in 4 straight games...Parra & Bush are going to pitch back to back 8 inning games...Braun is going to go on a big tear...Gagne will nail down a few saves in a row again like a couple weeks back.
Bottom line...5 months still to go people.

Thank you for the postive post. we can't suck forever and we are just one good weekend series out of first place. Plenty of time. Hell if last year the Cubs sucked far worse then the crew of 08 and they pulled it out. We are no where near calling it a season.
So is it too early to ask if the Crew are buyers or sellers this season in the trade market?
"Even after all this crap in the month of April, the Crew is still right there."
You sound like all those people last year when the Brewers were tanking, saying "don't worry, we are still in first. They are the Cubs, they will choke. We will right the ship. Yost is fine, we still lead the division."
Remember hitting is contagious. It's time to bring up that team batting average from .246. "Do you know what the difference is between batting .250 and .300 is? 25 hits. That is just one extra flare a week."
My concern is that the same logic "this team will be fine, there's still a long way to go, this team will hit, this team will catch some breaks, etc." will be used on June 1, July 1, and August 1, and then it will be too late to trade the young junk that the organization is still deluded into believing can play (Weeks, Hall, Hardy).
@anonymous:
Typical clueless Brewers "fan": "...but Hall had those 2 HRs on opening day. And the one he hit with the pink bat - he's good! And Hardy had those good 2 months last season. And Weeks, well, uh, Yost hits him leadoff so he must be good."
