Don't go there Ned!

Ned Yost had a bad day yesterday. Ok...I get it. Team is on a 4 game losing streak. They had just got shut out by some pitcher who looks like he is 12. Ryan Braun apparently said a "bad word" when giving an interview. Dave Bush is back up in the bigs and is sleeping with Yost's daughter. Yost got thrown out of the game. That's a pretty bad day.

But he lost patience during his interview...and he said this (when answering questions about Rickie Weeks being amongst the league leaders in runs while having some atrocious numbers):

"That's not a weird stat. Rickie is a run-scorer," Yost said.

That may be true, but doesn't the math make him an unlikely run-scorer?

"It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter," Yost told reporters. "See, you guys have no concept. He's a run-scorer. So there's nothing weird about it. That's what he does."

Actually Ned, it does matter. How much is up for debate...but it does matter. And you know what else Ned? It is a little weird. You want to know why? BECAUSE IN ORDER TO SCORE RUNS YOU HAVE TO BE ON BASE IN THE FIRST PLACE. Our breakout player Dick Weeks hasn't been doing much of that lately. So maybe him scoring a lot of runs could be weird?

I also hate his line about "you guys have no concept." What the F does that even mean? Honestly. There were probably 3 or 4 beat writers sitting listening to him yell at them. All they wanted was a little acknowledgment of the fact that maybe Dick scoring all those runs was perhaps a bit of an anomaly. But no...Yost instead goes off trying to make them seem ignorant about the game when he ended up sounding like a complete fool himself.

Just for the record, here are the damn numbers for the entire MLB, sorted out by runs scored.
Take a look at all the other guy's BA & OBP and compare them to Dick's. With a few exceptions, Dick is getting outperformed in those categories by a sizable amount. To just write off the fact that maybe him scoring all these runs is a little weird is just ignorant and asinine.

I met Ned Yost when he was a coach with the Braves in 2000 and I was helping out the Braves in spring training. He seemed like a dick then. Doesn't look like much has changed.

Speaking as someone who's had the pleasure of sitting in on two years worth Ned post game pressers, he definitely thinks he's smarter than us all and the casual fans are idiots.
