I hope this wasn't the reason...

Chris Mortensen is indirectly stating that Favre was YET AGAIN upset that the Packers did not reach an agreement with recent FA Randy Moss.

"Mortensen reported that Favre, who wanted the Packers to obtain Randy Moss when he was a free agent last season, had once again pushed for Moss to join the Packers. Favre had spoken to Moss late last week and was willing to commit to more than just this season if Moss and the Packers could come to an agreement. But the Packers did not pursue Moss, who re-signed with the Patriots on Monday."

I will not be happy if this story gains any legs. It will be a slap to the face of the current Packers regime. TT built a team around Favre that focused on depth on defense, with playmakers on the offensive side of the ball to take pressure off Favre.

And it worked well! The Pack got within a few plays of the Super Bowl. Is Favre saying that the acquisition of Moss would/would have pushed them over the top? I hope not...

I've herd this as well. If true, what's Favre's deal? The passing game is fine...like, 2nd best in football. Not having Moss didn't lose the Giants game. I can't believe he would be upset with the offensive weapons around him.

I don't think Ted is on Favre's Christmas list.

Listen - as long as Favre was around, this was Brett's team. Now that he has retired, it's Ted's team, for better or worse. It's an ego thing with Thompson - he'd rather have his guy playing QB rather than Ron Wolf's guy.

This has worked out exactly like Thompson planned - only 2 or 3 years later than he'd hoped.

Matt - You're full of crap. TT wants to win. If he doesn't, he's fired. Why would he want to get rid of an MVP caliber QB? He's not dumb enough to think they can win more with Rodgers than Favre.

What's Favre's fascination with Moss? Again, THE OFFENSE IS FINE THE WAY IT IS. If it was up to Brett they would have never drafted Jennings and Jones because he didn't want to throw to rookies.

In the JS blog, Favre's agent said he thought the Packers didn't really want Favre back. He said they were not fired up about it.

If that's the reason Favre didn't come back, I don't blame TT. What Favre put the team through 2 years ago was enough. TT can't spend the entire off season telling Favre how great he is and the team will be crap if he doesn't come back. At some point Favre is going to retire. It doesn't help the team that they have to go through this crap every off season.
Obviously I have no clue how this went down. If TT said hey, we don't need you this year, then he is an idiot. If he said, we need to know your decision because we have a plan to move on without you if you retire and Favre got hacked off about that, then so be it.

I think this year everyone assumed he'd be back, so there was no need to kiss his ass all offseason. So I really doubt that had anything to do with it and was more than likely Cook talking out of his ass (yet again).

Did you guys that Ted Thompson press conference? I was not aware the Packers had crazy Joe Davola as their GM!! I have a funny feeling that TT has an apartment where he has dozens of pictures of Deanna Favre stapled to the walls.
