Depending upon your mood, this is either the Brewers' current bullpen, or Cordero's ERA at Cincy at that softball diamond they play at.Francisco Cordero has agreed to a 4 year $46 million deal with the Cincinnati Reds. The Brewers offered $42 million over 4 years.
It's a great deal for Cordero - he gets $4 million more and will pitch less, given how many save opportunities the Reds historically give to their closers.
Derrick Turnbow now gets an opportunity to regain his closer's role. I hope he's found (or at least is looking for) the strike zone.

It says something about the Brewers when they offer over $10mil/year to someone who pitches 70 innings a season. No way they would have done this 3-4 years ago.
Now let's use that money to get some cheaper bullpen help and maybe a LF. Looking at the closer for teams like the Cubs and Indians, you don't need an absolute stud for a closer to do well.
This begs two questions for me:
1) How greedy is CoCo? For only a $4 mil difference he picks the much worse team. He must not have liked Milwaukee all that much.
2) If the Brewers really wanted CoCo, I think they could have ponied up that $4 mil. That's only an extra mil a year...probably the cost of another bobblehead night would have covered that.
They didn't know that the next highest offer was $46 million. Melvin was worried about negotiating against himself...
