In another good in-house signing by Ted Thompson, TE Don Lee gets a 4 year -$11.88 million extension. Good move by the Pack as Lee has exceeded everyone's expectations with a Pro-bowl type season...he's on pace for 50 catches and over 600 yards. Who saw this coming at the beginning of the year? Lee has shown pretty good hands and a great job of finding open space in between the 3 WRs.
TT has not gone out and broke the bank for a big-time free agent (what has Travis Henry done lately?...82 yards in the last 3 games combine...with a year suspension forthcoming), but has done a great job rewarding players in house. Thus far he's given Aaron Kampman, Cullen Jenkins, Nick Barnett, Donald Driver, Mark Tauscher, Al Harris, Bubba Franks (oops), and now Don Lee contract extensions....to go along with the Chuck Woodson and Ryan Pickett free agent signings.

Don't forget the positive moves he's made by getting rid of players as well. Carrol, Hunt, & essentially swapping Walker for Jennings. Plus, everyone hated the McCarthy signing at first. Pretty good record....again I love Ted Thompson.
....and yet I still think the overall public opinion on TT is negative. It's too bad the bar wasn't set that high for Sherman.
Now Donald Lee will commence the required post-contract sucking, a la Bubba.
No, Lee can do a couple of important things Bubba cant...like "run" and "catch."
Who saw any of this coming this year? Not me - I had them at 5-11. However, I'm not ready to crown Ted Thompson.
I'm watching each game through my fingers...waiting for the bottom to drop out. It reminds me of the Bucks start last year and the Brewers this season - the Packers are winning lots of games that are toss-ups going into the 4th quarter. Eagles, Chargers, Vikings, Redskins, Broncos, Chiefs - all of those games could just as easily have been losses. Hopefully they can keep it up, which the Bucks and Brewers could not.
I do think McCarthy is the runaway winner of NFL coach of the year through 9 weeks.
I was wrong on Lee's numbers...he's on pace for 58 catches and over 700 yards.
I meant the '05-'06 Bucks - last year's team was terrible from start to finish.
Matt - true, most of their games have not been in doubt going into the 4th. But this is a continuation of last year, unlike the Brewers/Bucks. Every year they both always start out hot and then crap the bed.
You can't win 11 of 12 games by accident (unless you are the 1997 Chiefs, or 2001 Bears)...even if most are close in the 4th.
