Hi

Hi, my name is Jeffrey Bennett. My interests include growing facial hair, flat brimmed hats, and two stroke engines. I am not very good at throwing a baseball, but good enough for Skip to start me vs his old pal Ned Yost. I apologize to the Cubs organization, specifically Cliff Floyd, in advance for pitching 4.1 innings while giving up 5 earned runs, 4 hits, and 3 walks tonight.

That looks like a similar line as that of the Brewers bullpen on any given night....he would've fit right in had we kept him...what a shame!!

Great point, maybe we should just call him Elmer Dessens II

Brad, you just guaranteed that Jeff Bennett is going to hold the Brewers to 1 run or less over 6 innings tonight.

Thanks.

So, according to this line, the Brewers will be up by as much as 5-0 in the 5th inning.

As a Cubs fan, I am EXTREMELY comfortable with that.

Your logic is flawed, Wrigleyville. We don't know how many runs Suppan will give up from this scenario, do we? Could be 5-3, in which case you get less comfortable, perhaps? Maybe MARGINALLY comfortable? (I use ALL CAPS for emphasis).

But thanks for playing.

matt apparently can't read, let alone apply logic.

it says as much as 5-0, which implies it could be 5-4, 5-3, 5-2, 5-1 or 5-0. less implicit - though intended - is the fact that the brewers could be tied 5-5 or down 47-5. who knows.

but the fact remains: an opposing pitcher's line of giving up 5 runs in 4.1 innings isn't all that fatal to cubs' fans hopes.

thanks for responding.

though i do not intend to question matt's intelligence. that is not fair. he is as smart as prince fielder is fat.

I reject that!

I'll be honest, when I woke up this morning I didn't envision getting into an argument about Jeff Bennett's fake pitching line today.

Wrigleyville, you are correct, I misread your very shrewd entry. I withdraw gracefully.

looks like we're all wrong...Jeff Bennett is on a CY Young tear! No wait...he's pitching against the Brewers...he's actually pitching below average like usual.
