Bob Ferguson: Gonzo

The Packers are looking to trade, or release WR Robert Ferguson. Trade him? For what? A case of Pabst and some athletic tape? Who's gonna give up anything for this guy? Every year he was supposed to break out, every year he caught like 25 balls. Slowly, but surely the Mike Sherman era-draftees are leaving town. That can only be a good thing, sans Kampman, Barnett and maybe a couple others.

Ferguson was not a Sherman pick. He was picked in the 2001 draft - the last one that Ron Wolf was involved in.

Ah, I stand corrected.

It was Wolf, but Sherman pushed pretty hard to get Ferguson. Since it was Wolf's last year, he was pretty much going to do whatever the coach wanted. It mentions in the article how Shermie lobbied for Fergie. Overall, it's still on Wolf, but you could still call that a Sherman pick.

If I recall correctly, this pick was also made because Sherman had a lot of connections at A&M.

Yup.....he cached the O-line there for several seasons. It really doesn't matter since Chambers didn't pan out either.....oh, wait.

Hmmm, I bet we will see Ferguson in a Houston Texans uniform, I'm sure Sherman could talk the Texans into giving up Owen Daniels for him, because Sherman knows Daniels is no David Martin.
