Big Home Stand

The Crew with a big home stand vs St Louis and Cinci this week. 4, or 5 wins would be optimal as next week's roadie could be dangerous. 9 games, 3 on the west coast then the final series vs those damn Cubbies. That could be the make-or-break stretch of the year.

First things first: St Louis. They're sitting a no-so-comfortable 5.5 games back. Dick Ankiel may be the spark plug the Redbirds have been looking for. Considering they've missed Chris Carpenter all year and one of their teammates died, Tony LaVodka has done a great job keeping them in the running. Then again, the Brewers/Cubs have done their part too. Does anybody want this crappy division?

JJ has shown signs of life, finally. As has Jenks. The bullpen has been Louganis about 4 out of every 5 games.

Where was Ned yesterday when Prince was ready to fight the umpire? Get out there Ned! Get in Blue's face so you get tossed and Prince doesn't! WTF?

Any guesses on how long Prince's suspension is going to be?

There may be a little bias here, but I don't think he deserves one. That was pretty entertaining though. It took Sedar, Yost, Hall and Sveum to hold him back. Let's hope Ankiel doesn't show up to the ballpark on Tuesday with his bat in a suitcase.

you want ned to pull up prince's pants after he takes a shit too? man, your hatred of ned knows no bounds. prince got tossed pretty quick, ned would have had to have been ben johnson on roids to get out on the field that quick to keep him from getting kicked out. not everything is ned's fault.

Chopp:
How can you blame Yost for this one. Was he supposed to sprint out there immediately after the called 3rd strike? Prince is a big boy and he can handle himself on the field. That pitch wasn't that bad so there was no need for Yost to complain about it. If he should have bitched at the umps about any pitch, it would have been the called 3rd against Hart in the 9th on Sat.

Also, from my year in the minor league clubhouse, I learned you only really get run if you "personalize" your complaint. example, If you say "That call was horseshit" you would be fine if you say "Your call was horseshit" not so much. Also, from the reports, Prince said something along the lines of "That's twice you fucked me" Using the word "you" was enough to get him run.
Maybe Ned should put muzzels on all his players so he doesn't get blamed for something as stupid as this.
To some on this board, Ned Yost is the anti-Chuck Norris. Ned Yost is the reason Manbearpig exists. Ned Yost forces me to work 6 days a week. Ned yost would lose a Tic Tac toe match to a 4 year old. Ned Yost would win zero dollars on Plinko.

GS - Your Ben Johnson reference is excellent. That reminds me that Carl Lewis is gay. Just wanted to point that out to Tone.

Ned is Mike Sherman. Sure, Mike won division titles but that does that mean he was a good coach? Anyone? Was Sherman a good coach? Just because the Brewers are in first doesn't mean I have to like Ned. In fact, I didn't like him 3-4 years ago.

I like the "Ben Johnson on roids" line...ha! I was just pointing out that maybe he should go out there and stick up for his players more often. Goldy gave another example of how he didn't do that on Saturday. "Should he sprint out there...," hell, my Grandma with a walker could have made it out there faster.

Ned is Mike Sherman

I don't think it was Yost's fault, but I also disagree that Prince doesn't somehow deserve a suspension.

I know there are flaws, but check out the AB w/ MLB Gameday's pitch data. All 4 pitches (1 called a ball) appear to be right down the heart of the plate. Prince was just mad at himself.

Even when Yost did get out there, he still couldn't get betwixt a pissed off Prince and the ump because PRINCE IS A BIG DUDE! Someday a player is going to clobber an umpire.

That's why Prince should be suspended, like it or not he came in contact w/ that ump. You can't let 300 pound, muscle bound, tattooed players in their physical prime (even Prince) go batshit & push around 75 year old umpires.

Lastly, on Yost. There is still plenty of blame to go around for #3. How f***ing low has the bar been set that when he goes 2-4 on a roadie, people consider that a solid road trip. (At least everyone did on the radio this morning.) At what point am I allowed to be critical of this team on the road and when can I imply that the team's struggles might have something to do w/ Ned? You know, because he's in charge.

Brad, Sherman wasn't a great coach but he wasn't horrible either to answer your question. His shortcomings were more apparent on the GM side of things. As a coach, not horrible, but not going to win the big game either.

I guess if that's your point I agree that he's like Yost. SO-SO coach, nice guy, but he's ultimately not going to get you to where you want to go. Of course, in Green Bay it's OK to raise expectations, it doesn't appear to be Ok for the Brewers yet. Hey, we're still over .500! Cool!

AP, I know Sherm the GM did in Sherm the coach...that was obvious (Jenks). Sherm may not have been terrible, but there's a reason he's the O-Line coach in Houston, rather than a head coach or coordinator somewhere.... Just wanted to use him as an example. Here's another: Barry Switzer. Was he a good NFL coach? He did win a Super Bowl?

Yost and Sherman seem like the same guy to me.

No, I know what you mean. Sherman had a hall of fame QB, a great RB, & one of the best O-lines in Packer history. Even w/ all of that, people would defend him by saying, "...well, he made the playoffs." You could probably give a 10 year old the 8 Super Tecmo Bowl plays on offense, and that 10 year old would've lead the Pack to the playoffs too. I hated Sherman, I was just pointing out that 90% of what was wrong with him was his GM skills.

Everyone knows it was ned's fault why kelly broke up with zach at the costume ball on saved by the bell.

Yes, but it was Ned's greatness that brought Slater and Jessie together...

only to tear them apart, by using the bayside bullpen too much, and making jessies addicted to pills.

Hey, Hey, Hey, What is going on in here?
Good insight on the personalization goldy, I would like to add that you can get away with a little more with some umps and a little less than others. And I do know what happens when you call one a "cocksucker." Still hoping Rick "Don't call me Rich" Ankiel doesn't show up with the Wonderboy. Also, I am not a "Yost-hater"

I did make up a Saved By The Bell Drinking game in college, and I do own Seasons 1-4 on DVD. For what it is worth, I received them as gifts. Drink for Slater wearing pink or purple.

I read my previous comment and would like to point out that by "year in minor league clubhouse" I am talking about my stint as a clubhouse manager/ part-time BP pitcher. Guys who are smooth-fielding, weak-armed 3rd baseman who are very good at dropping down bunts don't usually play past HS.
