Reason 71 Why I Don't Like Yost

As mentioned in an earlier comment, Barry Zito (a LHP) is a bit of an oddity as Left Handed batters (LHB) actually hit him better than RHB's do. Much better. Here are the numbers:
  • Vs LHB: 83 ABs, .337 Avg, .392 OBP, .518 Slugging
  • Vs RHB: 236 ABs, .216 Avg, .304 OBP, .335 Slugging

Hmmm. Odd, but yes, LHB are crushing Zito this year. It's not even close. How do I know this? Saw it on Baseball Tonight about a week ago...they were saying how every team is picking up on this. Miller Park must not get that channel because what does Ned do? Damien Miller and Kevin Munch, both righties, get the start over left handed hitters Ponch Estrada and Glue. Only 1 lefty in the lineup. I sure hope I'm wrong, but this doesnt make much sense to me, or the "experts" on Baseball Tonight. And no, it wasnt Kruk who was saying this.

Another thing is Kevin freaking Mench currently has the highest batting average on the team with runners in scoring position (.290). I don't care what the lineup looks like as long as it doesn't inlude 2 of the following 4 players: Miller, Gross, & Counsenino. Today's lineup checks out. You'd have to balance Zito VS. lefties w/ Jenkins numbers Vs. LHP. Glue only bats .167 VS, LHP. I'm OK if he never faces another lefty this season....

If I threw lefty, I could get the Glue out. And Miller usually catches day games after night games. I'm OK with this lineup. Mostly because Counsell is nowhere to be found.

Yup....I think you could put a ball on a tee and write "Lefty" on it in magic marker and Glue would probably K most of the time.

......and Cousell is now playing SS. Did Hardy get hurt or did they just pull him b/c his hip was sore?

Well, that game just got less fun.

Actual email to Matt, literally 2 seconds before the Giants grand salami:

"Did you see who the Giants 4-5 hitters are today? Klesko and Molina. Ugh!"

pause 2 seconds....grand slam

I really like to see Weeks banging doubles the past few games...

Kevin Mench has 5 walks since becoming a Brewer, I would be willing to bet that at least a couple of those are intentional (although I can't think of a good reason to walk Kevin Mench). We should start a trade Kevin Mench website to rival the Pee Your Pants one.

How about "Kevin Mench Hacks" I agree, trade that guy or use his head to blind the other team or something! What a terrible approach at the plate.

I don't think Mench has the worst approach on the team, and again he's been great with RISP. How about Estrada swinging at the first pitch everytime? How many walks does he have? How about Jenkins softball swing?

All of Mench's walks are of the intentional variety.
