Quick Monday Night Thoughts

  • The pitch that Carlos Lee struck out on in the 8th should have been hit about 500 feet. That was a hanger and he was simply not looking off speed. That was a terrible pitch from Turnbow

  • I don't mind Brian Anderson, but it continues to be obvious that he knows diddly-dick about baseball.

  • Manny Parra threw a perfect game for Nashville tonight. Fo those who don't know, Manny was promoted from Huntsville when Yo was called up. Check out Manny's sweet look. I may have seen him out in Racine before.

"How you doin?"

PCL league has a 104 year history & this is only the 3rd perfect game ever for that league.....and the Sounds have 2 of them. That's not too bad. It's a good feeling to know that the orginization has depth.

I was going to post about Anderson. He and Rock have developed some nice chemistry, in my opinion. I'm fine with him. He lets the game be the focal point, unlike Vasgersian and Sutton.

I like Anderson, not b/c he's outstanding, but b/c he's not Sutton. DS would try to overdramatize everything. Swing and a miss="He was right on that..." , Foul Ball="...If he straightens that out...", and stuff like that.

One time Rock ends a sentence containing the word "hitting", and then immediately Prince hit a double. DS's segue was, ".....I'll tell you what Prince Fielder has been hitting...(dramatic pause)....the baseball." Thanks Darron, really? Agreed, BA knows 0 baseball, but his calls are getting much better. It's Rock's job to handle the baseball knowledge portion.

I have no problem listening to BA, I much prefer him over Sutton. I like his understated delivery. Its just that when he tries to talk baseball strategy, you are often left going, "What?". On that note, I think Bill has stepped up his game this year knowing he has to provide more of the baseball insight as opposed to being the dopey sidekick.

Totally Goldy....right on. I'm sure Rock knew or was told that BA is not a "baseball" guy and he was going to have to step up the baseball info. I think their roles are just more clearly defined so it works better....Rock=color guy & BA=Play by play. They don't step on each other as often....and DS/Rock schtick was definitely growing old.

I'm wondering if anyone has ever seen a baserunner fail to score from second base on a double before?

That was a new one for me when I saw Estrada only make it to third on Jenkins' double in the 8th. Pick up the plow Johnny!

He had to watch the ball to see if it was going to be caught. What..., that's what the 3rd base coach does? Oh nevermind....
