Our fellow friend and Brewer fan Jason Popp discovered this nugget last Saturday:
While spending some time in the greater Eau Claire area scouting out hunting land, Popp and his uncle decided to check out EC’s famed Water Street (rest in peace Camaraderie, RIP). This lead him to his former place of employment, a bar named the Brat Cabin. Here he ran into a former co-worker (Brian) who, for reasons unexplained, still works at the Brat. Brian says the following (paraphrasing): “Around November, Doug Davis came in here and got all tanked up. He is dating an EC girl and partied here all night. He was tossing $100s around all night…he was hammered by the time he left. He even tipped me a solid 50 bucks.” Solid, but this is the best part…remember, this is before the Brewers traded him to Arizona. “Davis told me: ‘I would love to stay in Milwaukee, but I will probably be traded. That’s fine, my arm is cashed anyway. I’ve got nothing left.’” Not only that, he was said to be working on a pretty impressive boiler as well.
Wow, how about that! This is way too random to make up, so I believe it….even if the source is a 31 year old bartender who still has his college job.
What does this all mean? Another great trade by Doug Melvin, that’s what!!! Oh, and for those who enjoy a little “sweet action” on sporting events, I’d ride the “bet against DD train” all year long baby!!!!

Thanks to Jason Popp for this fine piece of investigative journalism.

Was DD hanging out with Ross Verba up there?
Why? Is Verba an EC guy? I know former Jet Chad Cascadan is from Chipp Falls.
This isn't the same source that said
"Bret Favre is retiring" after the 4-12 season? I don't trust any sources that went to EC !
Please!
A few weeks back, Verba was arrested in EC on a warrent for wrting bad chacks in Vegas. I found the story strange because I was wondering what the heck Ross Verba was doing in EC.
Popp? Bartender wanting to tell a story? A lot of holes here, but in the end I love a good Doug Melvin sticking it to Arizona story. In Doug I trust. man, the D-Back fans have to cringe everytime a trade with the crew is announced. I like it.
I have heard this story too. A good friend of mine was the BF before DD and I became friends with her and some of her friends too. DD knew a long time ago he wasnt pitching for the crew this year, and when I asked about the 3 year deal, the gf stated, if he even pitches that many more years.
I am ok with DD since this is a nickname but if this going to turn into a school girl chat room full of bf's, gf's, and if I ever see one of those GAY typed smiley face things I hope the guardians of this blog will remove said violators at once.
Anonymous, I'm not so much coming at you as much as just making a point. Thanks for validating the story.
uh, Doug Davis is married with children - so is he now a cheater whose arm is done?
Yes, he has 2 kids but is single.
From the Arizona Diamondbacks website. Doug Davis's Bio page:

The Brat Kabin. Wow. I remember drinking giant bottles of Walters there till I was sick. Which is convenient, because the floor slopes down to a drain so they can just hose the place down.
High class drinking, Doug.

Excelelnt job Chopp. You have people questioning the very meaning of brewerfan.net. I salute you!
hey Nubs, maybe you're gay.
I actually herd the Brat Cabin was "the" place to hang out now. Certainly wasn't when I went to EC.
