Pirates Fever, Catch it

High comedy on MLB Network's "30 Clubs in 30 Days" about the Pirates. They used the phrases "scrappy," and "young guys taking the next step" for about 20 minutes before I had to turn it off. You know it's bad when Dan Pleasac says "There are bright spots with Paul Maholm..." and then trails off mentioning no more bright spots. The lineup looks pretty sweet with catcher Ryan Doumit and his 69 RBI batting cleanup, some guy named Nyjer batting leadoff, with the brothers LaRoche mixed in for fun. I guess their closer and setup guy are good. It was a 1 hour program and I said to myself "what on earth could they possibly talk about for another 40 minutes?" Click.

Too bad because Pittsburgh is a pretty sweet city and PNC Park is phenomenal. I've been to about a dozen MLB ballparks and PNC is easily my favorite. And Pittsburgh is really nice too. You think Pittsburgh, and dirty steel mills come to mind. Not at all. It's really clean and modern.

Pirates fever...CATCH IT!

I was planning on going to PNC this year, but I am pretty sure when I looked there were no weekend series in Pittsburgh in 2009. A group of friends and I decided to go to Minneapolis over Memorial Day weekend instead. From what I've heard about PNC, the dropoff from PNC to the Metrodome is the biggest difference between two ballparks in the history of anything ever.

No

The biggest drop-off ever??

That would be the difference between PNC and the Pirates success in the building.

{The Dome's shittyness gives it some charm}
{Pirates shittyness is legitimately sad on multiple levels--bad for the league, bad for mid sized cities, bad for some great fans, embarrassing etc.}
