Ted Thompson, on his philosophy when picking in the top 10 of the NFL draft:
"In a perfect world you'd be able to address a particular need with a really good player," Thompson said. "But if it turns out this guy comes and sits behind somebody for a couple years, that's fine, too, as long as he's that quality of player."
Sadly, we all know that we live in a world that is imperfect, at best. If Ted's pick at #9 this year is a backup for a "couple years", Ted will probably be gone before the guy ever sees the field.
