Though I don't know the answer, I don't think it's Brady - too many RBIs. I think his 50 home run year was one of those deals where he had like 90 or 100 RBIs.
I thought that the list of people with exactly 54 HRs in a season consisted of Babe Ruth (several times) Ralph Kiner, and David Ortiz, but I don't think this matches up with any of them, so I'm probably missing someone.
And Mantle, but that can't be right.
I knew Maris was juicing....that fucker.
