Brewers with Silly 80's Baseball Cards

Check out good old John Henry Johnson. Good thing he was a reliever when the Brewers were in the AL because I don't think he could put a helmet over that mop of hair. JHJ pitched 2 seasons with the crew ('86 and '87). Pitched in 19 games in 1986 and had a great 2.66 ERA and won 2 games and saved one. In 1987, his only meaningful contribution was the photo on his baseball card as he posted a 9.57 ERA in 10 games.

I don't even remember this chump.

He looks like he's ready to try out for Winger. She's only 17... I'll show you a white afro, like you've never seen.

You forget John Henry Johnson's greatest claim to fame with the Brewers.

His # is retired. It's hanging next to Aaron and Jackie Robinson.

He wore #34. Rollie Fingers retired in '85 and JHJ wore it in '86.

Clownship not sure your age but if you were in the card collecting age in 1987 then there is NO WAY you would forget JHJ. Goldy great pull the topps '87's best set ever.

Good times

I also remember one of my favorite cards from that set featuring the Brewers' Tim Leary. I always had that card prominently displayed in my bedroom. If my parents thought I was dropping acid, it was way easiert to keep the whiskey hidden in my room.

I was like 9 in 1987 and I totally remember the '87 Topps with the wood grain.

I'm gonna have to dig out my cards tonight.

Well played Clownship

The wood grain 87 set was nice. I always liked the '85 Topps design. Simple but effective. Plus, it was a heck of a set in terms of players and rookie cards.

I think that guy's son plays QB for Alabama.

Another classic was a Dan Plesac, also from 87 (I think Fleer) with him in a batting stance showing his braces with a big smile, lol.
