Favre: From State Icon to Loser in 10 Months

Seriously, it's amazing how one can tarnish their reputation so quickly. Even if he was talking to Millen about hunting and this came up, hey Brett, how about taking the high road for once in your pathetic life. Packer fans were willing to overlook your alcoholism, your addiction to pain meds, and your part in the 4th and 26 debacle, among other things. Heck even the pathetic pick in the NFC championship game would have been forgotten. However, this takes the cake. Where there is smoke there is fire. This story would be huge if it wasn't broken by Glazer and Favre wasn't in ESPN and Peter King's pocket. Seriously dude, screw off. This is one Packer fan who is done with Favre and hopes the Packers feel the same way. No multi-million dollar personal services contract, no Packer Hall of Fame, no name in the Ring of Honor, no statue in front of the stadium, and go into the NFL as a Falcon or Jet. The funny thing is, I was telling my brother-in-law on Saturday that even though I was not a fan of Favre and how things went down, in 5 years all will be forgotten and when I have kids some day, I would tell them how great Favre was and not mention this junk. I don't really see that happening anymore.

From the J-S:
"I just think it's kind of messed up how he left here," defensive end Cullen Jenkins said. "Hasn't talked to Aaron, wished Aaron good luck or anything like that but he's called everybody else, called Tony Romo and stuff like that. I don't have nothing against Brett personally. But I think in his position, he could at least show a little more class, a little more respect to Aaron in that regard."

What is it with the effing sports stars from our teams? First Corey Hart goes from being in everybody's top 5 favorite Brewers to insta-douche, and just when finally, FINALLY, I thought we were over the Favre saga, this hits. I'm not joking, I was exchanging emails with this pure Favre loyalist that told me this moring, and I quote: "You're the only one who's making a big deal of this, nobody is talking about it anywhere, I can't believe you don't know this stuff happens all of the time."

The Pack weathered the Favre 6 TDs game when Rodgers got hurt. They weathered the Romo call shit, they got through the Tony Gonzalez thing and then WHACKO. I don't care what they say, the Favre loyalists have to resort to bold faced lies to sleep at night now (see above). And no matter what they tell you, they cannot stand that Rodgers looks as good as he does. His steady play is slowly ruining their lives.

The biggest part of this story is just how much influence ESPN has on the sports world. By them not covering this, the story, as big as it is, is pretty much getting buried. If this was nearly anyone else, ESPN would be all over it - front page of .com, Outside the Lines special, tons of discussion on SC, PTI, ATH, etc... but because it makes their boy look bad, they do him a solid and pretend it's not happening.
Just pathetic by both ESPN and Favre. They deserve each other, and Peter King can be the cuckold.

Imagine if it was TO. The ESPN talking heads would be calling, texting and showing up at our doors to give us every dirty little detail.

Jay Glazer says something so it must be true!! How convenient!! Forget about the fact that Favre denied the report. Forget about the fact that Jay Glazer could not list a single one of his sources, forget about the fact that the lions defense showed no indication whatsoever of having insider information on defense and forget about the official detroit lions press release, " Lions Chief Operating Officer Tom Lewand stated, "Our coaches are perplexed. There was no coaching of our coaching staff [by Favre].'' But there was one semi-damning quote out of the Lions' locker room Sunday. "No comment,'' said head coach Rod Marinelli, when asked about the report." Thats it. No comment by the coach and a bunch of unnamed sources by Jay Glazer. Call me crazy but I usually like to see something called...what is it, what is it, oh yeah proof!! Why should the burden of proof be on Favre to defend himself from unnamed sources? This blog and its readers are so slanted against favre that they failed to report Favre's text message or question that fact that there isn't any credible sources here. I guess if Jay Glazer reports it it most be true though right? I know reporters are supposed to protect their sources but Glazer could not even list one person?? Can you say heresay?!? 16 years of franchise glory primarly because of this man and you sacrifice him with the word of Jay Glazer and a bunch of unnamed sources. Jesus! Will somebody in this forum please reign in your hatered of Favre for 1 minute and do some objectionable blogging please???

Why would Glazer make this up?

And, no shit he's not going to name his sources...how would he EVER get another scoop? That's journalism 101, or maybe even high school journalism.

It wasnt just one hearsay source. It was "mutliple sources." Enough of a story that every single sports media outlet (national, local) not named ESPN picked up on the story.

Another no shit. No shit Favre's gonna deny it, to protect his legacy to Packer fans...if there's any left.

Man is fish jaded. Wipe the jizz of your face man, your gayness for #4 is showing.

He also probably thinks ESPN is unbiased.

All I'm saying is this sounds a lot like another Favre bashing report when he allegedly was involved in illegal tampering with the Minnesota Vikings and supposedly used a Packer issued cell phone. That grievance was filed by Ted Thompson. The NFL investigated that story and it turned out to not be accurate. By the way that story also was first reported by Fox sports news with "multiple unnamed sources." So my point is that maybe Favre did leak information and maybe he didn't. Look, I admit it certainly seems possible and personally I really like and respect Ted Thompson. However I refuse to be a sheep and blindly believe the first media leak that happens to align with my particular bias. I for one am going to wait for all of the facts to come out before burying this guy who who put it all on the line for us every single game for 16 years. Fact is Favre never missed a game, dedicated most of his career to the organization and brought a superbowl to wisconsin. I think this is insane to just get caught up in the current media hype snowball effect and make wild claims like this ruins the entire Favre legacy and he shouldn't be in our Packer HOF!! Get serious.

Fish has a shrine to Brett Favre in his house!

Fish, how about the wisconsin state journal confirming the report? are they making up the story too?

Mr. Fish, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

First of all anonymous are you one of Jay Glazer's "multiple sources"? If you are you have to tell us otherwise its entrapment!

Anonymous where do you think the Journal Sentinel got their story from?? Hmmmmm....lets think, I know maybe a quote from the article will help us!
"According to a story reported on Fox's pregame show and later at www.foxsports.com,"

no kidding

From the Wisconsin State Journal.

"Two league sources said Sunday they had been told of Favre contacting the Lions last month, before Glazer's report. One said the report was "absolutely" true."

Now ESPN televises this stuff. Of course its Brett Favre, again lying to the media.

What a tard.
