Bucks Game 1 Review

Against my better judgement, I gave the Bucks a shot. I watched about %80 of it. As a writer for a Wisconsin Sports Blog, I thought I owed it to them to check out the opening game, My bad.

All I have to say is: Nothing's changed. Its the same exact team as last year. New coach, new GM, trades, draft picks...doesn't matter. Charmain Villenueva is still soft. The guards still can't guard a folding chair. Redd still jacks up off-balance 20 footers with 2 guys in his face. The point guards blow (Tyronne Lue might be the worst Buck that actually gets minutes in a long time). Bogut still has zero post moves. McGlocklin and Paschke are still trying to pump up this garbage. Dan Gazuric still makes me laugh. And Knight Jr (Skiles) the disciplinarian didn't inspire much more hustle and defense than the previous coaches.

Bright spots: Luc Richard Mbah a Moute Fuamatu-Maafala was a good 2nd round pick. He plays some D and hit a few open jumpers. He'll stick around the league for a decade. Jefferson is way better than Yi. That's about it.

That's it, I'm done. They had their chance. This is the last word I write about the current Bucks (old Randy Breuer references allowed) unless Skiles throws a folding chair across the court.

I also watched about 6 minutes of the Portland-Lakers game just to see Oden. He moves like a 38 year old Robert Parish, and that's not a good thing.

i wouldn't say bogut doesn't have any post moves. hard to show them when he has 4 shots all game.

The NBA AND NOBODY!

Come on. Bogut has a great left handed baby hook.

I watched about 40% of the game, and was struck by the number of fouls, more than anything else.

I was also struck by the talent gap between Chicago and Milwaukee. The Bulls just have more talent - that isn't the end-all in the league, but it sure helps.

It is going to be a long year, but I hope that Skiles and Hammond can go about changing the culture of the organization. These Bucks are the 2002 Brewers - just think of it that way.

You've got to love the patience of Bucks fans. Watch 3 quarters of game 1 and then write them off as done.

Brad, do I sense a little reverse psychology here?

But I do agree...Tyronn Lue? Who the F is that?

At least give them 10 games...

Excuse me, I referred to the NBA as "the league" in my last comment.

I meant The Association, of course.

Sorry for the confusion.

Woz - to clarify: I'm writing them off as done in terms of me watching them anymore the rest of the year.

I think cutting Frieje was the biggest mistake in the history of the Bucks.

That game was pretty gross. It totally looked like more of the same. With a very few exceptions, they just did not look like they spend all their time learning to play basketball. So many simple mistakes, bone-headed shots by Redd, fouls, and things like that. I'm not ready to give up yet, but if they lose to Oklahoma City, I'm going to be pretty worried.

I didn't realize there was a professional basketball league.

What's next! Pro-Womens B-Ball?!

Silly.

Redd: 1 assist

Yep, that's about right.

Please trade him before the deadline for some expiring contract and maybe we can finally make the playoffs in '10-11.

The Bucks... where zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz happens

And Bogut made all four of his shots. Pretty critical to say he has no post moves when he never got the ball and the opportunity to put them on display. His points were off offensive rebounds. He won't give you the Hakeem "dream shake," but he can score with both hands very effectively. Not many centers do that anymore ...

Dead, dead, dead, the NBA is dead to me...
