A No-Hitter? No, Silly, an Eight-Hitter.

This post has two purposes.

First, to bump down the Ted love letter Brad threw up there while we were sleeping. We get it Brad - you love Ted. I, for one, am done with the NFL until the season starts. Although I did see that Johnny Jolly got picked up on drug charges - nice.

Second, to point out a phrase that I've never seen used before in a baseball story. This from the Associated Press story on today's Brewers game:

In his second start since being traded from Cleveland to Milwaukee, Sabathia pitched an eight-hitter, his fourth complete game of the season and 20th of his career.

Usually, a pitcher "scatters eight hits" - but I've never seen an outing referred to as an "eight-hitter" before. Maybe it's just me.

usually when they give up eight hits, they don't pitch a complete game (i would guess), so the "scattered eight hits" would usually be followed by "over seven innings." with a complete game, however, it's an eight-hitter.

that's science.
