Chuckie Hacks Contest!

.
Loyal reader Nubs has captured his feelings of this ongoing series with the Cubs through a couple of crudely altered images. Care to top him?
.
Send your entry to our email address (chuckie_hacks@yahoo.com) and we'll post our favorites. The winner gets nothing, except the ability to claim that you've won something more recently than the Brewers have.
.
UPDATE
.
Nubs has upped the ante with one final entry. He has a little too much time on his hands this afternoon.

It just sucks, sir... It was a rush to pull up to they Cubs and this series was a reminder how far we still need to go. Gut Punch/ ball-kick series.

The Cubs, not they Cubs. Wow. I've been affected more than I thought.

wv23 said...

i didn't mean the brewers, necessarily. typed it during prince's episode.

now the cubs will lose 6 of their next 7 like we did after sweeping the cards.

don't worry you hayseed cub fans, there is a lot of season left... we gave you this series - you earned nothing.

if so, it's a good thing they won 4 in a row in milwaukee. that - and the 5 game lead - will be a useful cushion when they get that cold.

wow anon- real brave talking shit without even putting a name by your words

oh and fwiw what we earned was 4 full games on your weak ass team

Dylan-

Despite the ass-whooping that the Cubs laid on the Brewers in this series, the season series is actually very close. Matter of fact, the crew has gone 4-2 at what I guess we should call Miller Park South. That said, yes, the Cubs whomped the brewers THIS TIME, but I don't think that this snapshot is entirely indicitive of the respective qualities of the teams involved. It's a long season, bucko.

bucko?

are you richie cunningham?

(he was from milwaukee, after all...)

Sadly... Yes. Yes I am.

say hey to mary beth. she was kinda hot.

You guys are old.

Eh, I figured that there's been enough profanity the last week on our end that I could try and use something else, even if it was an linguistic anachronism.

Anonymous said...

I'm 25! Is that old?

wv23 said...

matt doesn't have nick at nite, apparently.

but i remember staying up to watch happy days while my parents had bridge night.

the '70s were awesome.

BTW- I think her name was Lori Beth, but I could be wrong...

It's never a good sign when I'd rather talk about "Happy Days" than baseball... That series may have driven Brewers fans to drink... Oh, wait. Nevermind.

Fine, WV is old. And DOGY watches too much TV.

wv23 said...

damn. lori beth.

i think i'll call her mary beth, going forward.

wv is old. but wise.

DOGY... I like that.

Hey, Wrigleyville, you're a reasonable Cubs fan that puts thought into what you do/say - How do YOU feel about the Crews playoff chances? I, as sad as it may sound, would be very happy with the wildcard. I know that you guys have been in that mindset before, too...

wv23 said...

i am working under the assumption the cubs and brewers will both make the playoffs (though the cardinals are freaking relentless - like a zombie in a horror movie).

i am also working under the assumption they are best position for playoff success, with good bats and 2 very good arms, pending the health of harden and sheets.

i do believe the cubs have better rotation and bullpen balance than the brewers and, with soriano, the better balanced everyday lineup.

this resurgence and soriano's return are not a coincidence. people seemed to forget he's missed something like 8 weeks of the season.

wv23 said...

with that, i'm going to play golf.

Fair enough analysis... I will say that I wish the Brewers had 1) a leadoff hitter and 2) more patience at the dish.

Honestly I'm more worried about one of the NL East teams grabbing the wildcard from the Brewers than the Cards. All three teams are really flawed but also really talented, moreso than the "held together by duct tape and spit" Cardinals.

I know you asked Wrigleyville this question d'amicos, but as a somewhat reasonable Cub fan myself, I think it's going to be a tight race to the end. Both teams have good rotations and solid hitting. Both teams seem to go through offensive dry spells, so gaining too much ground always seems to be just out of reach. Plus, as wrigleyville said, The Cardinals are probably going to stick around until the end as well, if only to screw everything up for one of our teams. The only thing about the Brewers that I see as troubling is the tendency to get too emotional, allowing things to distract them. It happened against St. Louis last season and we saw some of it yesterday in the 9th with Gagne and Fielder. I think this self-destructive behavior might impact the race this year if Yost can't quelch it, but he seems to be just as bad as some of the players. Believe me, all this looks very familiar to me, as I suffered through the 2004 Cubs. I don't think your boys are near as bad as those whiny bunch of pussies, but I would find it a little bit concerning if I were a Brewer fan. All said and done, Milwaukee's got a great team that's only going to get better, but I think maybe a little more seasoning is in order.

Loserpoet- I never mind when someone chimes in! I don't know about the proprietors of this fine website, but I prefer conversation to slack-jawed doode-braw insult slinging.

As for your points- I agree that the Crew needs to lager a bit... In terms of pure talent I think the Brewers are at least the Cubs equal, but this series and others in the past have shown that they're simply not a mature team. They beat the Cards on a combination of talent and emotion and lost to the Cubs because the emotion outweighed the talent. You could see the wind leave their sails after they pissed away Mondays game, the only one in the series that was close, and only after the meltdown yesterday could they finally could hit again. I remember Zambrano had this issue early in his career; you get so jacked up you spin your wheels, and because of the lack of control you make even more mistakes in trying to catch up.

I can't speak for all, but I much enjoy rational discussion as opposed to some of the dumb comments we have every now and then.

While we are asking Wrigleyville questions, how is it that all the hotels in Bloomington are sold out for a football game in November? Doesn't Indiana only draw about 40,000?

Anonymous said...

What's the matchup?

I've not paid much attention to Big Tenleven football since I decided to attend a Pac-10 school...

Anonymous said...

Wisconsin-Indiana. IU is the only Big Ten campus I have not been to. If that doesn't work out is looks liek a trip to "Scenic" East Lansing this year.

Anonymous said...

Ugh. East Lansing.

Are there any KOAs in the area? You could always cold weather camp... Or find a hotel/motel in a neighboring city.
Every Saturday in fall in Eugene there were no hotel rooms, as well... some folks would stay in Salem-Kaiser and commute down. Doubly true for USC or UCLA games.

bloomington is a slightly larger state college - there just aren't that many hotel rooms in town. most people - like my parents - drive in and out the same day. it's an easy drive from indy, the louisville suburbs, etc. really just not much need.
