First Series Loss...

Two weeks into the season and it looks like the Central might be a lot better than most people thought. Could it be a 4 team race now? Can St. Louis be for real? I don't know. It's still too early. Another month and I'll do a runs scored vs runs allowed analysis when the stats aren't as inflated. I've got a feeling the Cards will taper off...just a hunch.

The Crew was lucky to get 1 win out of that Cincinnati series. That first game could have easily went either way. Cincy is tough. I've got a feeling all the games this year are going to be like the first & third games of the series. Tough pitching battles where the first mistake/bad luck usually will cost you the game. That's what happened to Carlos yesterday. Guy was cruising through 6...makes 1 bad pitch and the Brewers are down 2. With Harang pitching to Cordero the game was essentially over at that point.

I was on the verge of making the argument that the Brewers offense was struggling (only 8 runs scored in the Reds' series) but I've decided against it. Still too early and it's only 1 series against tough pitching. Take a look at the team stats so far.

BA is up there but OBP (most important stat) is lagging. Take a look at the walk total. DEAD LAST in the NL. Will this change? Hopefully.

Individually, Kendall & Kapler are playing out of their minds right now. Dick & JJ aren't doing anything. Prince & Hart are both kind of "Meh." Braun & Hall are leading the way with the power so far, but have a combined 19 strikeouts against 1 walk. Come on fellas, take a few pitches.

All in all, am I concerned? No. Team is 6-3 and pitching has been great for the most part. It'd just be nice for some of the regulars to get it going and really open up a division lead early on.

A start tonight against former stain Nelson Figeroa should be just what the Dr ordered. He hasn't started a game since 2004 for shits sake. Lets start this difficult roadie with a W.

Figueroa is just the kind of guy who baffles the Brewers. Kind of like Josh f'ing Fogg.

Absolutely Matt. I'd rather the Crew faces Santana than Figeroa....
