First Official Yost Bash Of The Year

Not from me, but JS's Tommy H. His latest blog entry questions Gross still being in the lineup just because he's left handed:

Is there a law that says you have to play a left-handed hitter against a right-handed pitcher when one is available, no matter how poorly he's swinging the bat?

There must be, because manager Ned Yost has Gabe Gross back in CF today despite the fact that he's batting .091. Gabe Kapler, a right-handed hitter who is batting .412 and is a better defensive player than Gross, is on the bench again.

Commenters go on to say Gross is terrible defensively, only took a total of 3 pitches in 3 ABs yesterday, and reference Monty Burns substituting Darryl Strawberry for Homer to play the matchups. Nice.

Just got back from the game. The only redeeming quality of the entire day was the fact that the game was fast. Horrible weather, bad game, more idiots than usual standing to leave/come back to their seats during pitches. Some boos for CoCo but not as bad as I thought it would be. I was behind home plate and chose to instead take all the cash out of my wallet and wave it in the air, but nobody cared enough to join me.

Sounds like a Brewer game from 1996.

Did you see any Brewers hitters at the game? I heard they didn't show up...
