CNNSI says that's potentially how much Scooter Linebrink could fetch on the free agent market. Should be an interesting offseason, to be sure.
Relievers: The Phillies have already fired the first shot by giving lefty J.C. Romero a three-year, $12 million deal. Righthander Scott Linebrink was a horse in his first couple of years in San Diego, a little less so after being traded to Milwaukee, but he'll still be a sought-after setup man this winter who should command at least something in the vicinity of the deal that Romero got. Also remember that the Orioles went wild in signing bullpen help last winter, which will be another touchstone for negotiations this time around. Linebrink may not match the three years, $19 million that Danys Baez got from the O's. By now, everyone recognizes that as pretty ridiculous. But he could be close.

No more than 4 million, no more than 3 years...
Get rid of Linebrink. He was worthless last year for us. He ranks slightly above Turn-blow in terms of reliability.
I liked Linebrink if only because he had the ability to throw strikes, which was sorely lacking in our other relievers by the end.
But that's too much money for him. Zeus, are you saying $4 million total or $4 million/year? I assume the latter...
I am more worried about the fact that the Yankees shot Mariano Rivera a 3 year $45 million dollar deal. Is Cordero going to look for something similar?
As for Linebrink...if we can get him relatively cheap, whatever that is, I say do it otherwise we will need more Melvin trade magic.
Can we get Joe Thacher back?
4 million a year.
Coco is gone. Long live Choate.
