Counsell on Next Year

Great things are expected for the 2008 Brewers. Our favorite guy to bounce out to the right side, Craig Councell, says there are no guarantees...except for him hitting under .250.

"For me, it's going to be disappointing," veteran infielder Craig Counsell said just before the Cubs clinched the National League Central. "I don't have that many chances left, and no matter how old you get, you only get so many chances, and we had a chance this year. So, for me, I'm disappointed.

"Everybody says there is so much to be excited about because of the young team, and I understand that. But there are no guarantees about what happens next year, or if you'll even be here next year."

I agree with Counsel. You never know when you are going to get back there. I am sure the '82 team expected to make several more runs at it in the 80's. But you never know who is going to get hurt, or who will go the free agent route. Think about the payday that Prince is in line for when his contract comes up. New York and Boston are going to throw a butt-load of $$$ at him you can bet.

Although it's down the road a ways, I'm nervous that both Prince and Braun are Scott Boras guys. That sucks.
