Uh Oh

It happened. The Brewers no longer own the division lead. The following hurts to say. It really hurts. Hurts like a kick in the package, but here goes: The Cubs are a better team than the Brewers. There, I said it. I’m not being negative, I’m being a realist.

The Cubs:

  • Have a better defense (MLB fielding %: Cubs 14th, Brewres 25th)
  • Can score without hitting a home run
  • Have a better starting rotation (especially sans Sheets). Cubs starters ERA: 3.80, Brewers – 4.39….including Benny’s numbers
  • Have a better manager
  • Have a less-taxed bullpen

I’ve been fighting this realization with blue and mustard colored glasses for a few weeks now. Why do I get excited for this garbage every year?

Brad, it should never bother you to have a realistic view. Honestly, Cub fans are thinking "World Series" right now and that isn't very realistic either. Your current view might anger some, but it prevents you from being that prototypical fan who thinks their team is the best ever because they had a 5 game winning streak. There's a lot of baseball left to play...and I like what I've seen from this team lately. (i.e. extra innings Mets win.) I'm trying to stay optimistic even though I'm on record saying this team is horrible.

Are you kidding me? Was that just written on Chuckie Hacks? I think not!
Have some faith in your "boys"! That's ridiculous, I don't want to read crap like that on this board. Stay positive, it's only August 2nd. The Cubs can NOT stay this hot for long. You are talking like the Brewers are 9 games out of it, they are TIED, TIED! Just relax and try to enjoy the 1:00 game today.
I will GUARANTEE a "W" today a "L" for the Cubs. Mark my words...I'll be back at 4:00 to verify this.

eh, it was fun while it lasted. good thing training camps are open.

hopefully they collapse horribly the rest of the year so games aren't so crowded next year with all the clueless bandwagon jumpers.

I like the way the probables are shaking out for the rest of the homestand; in all honesty there's no one who would match up well against Hamels right now. The offense needs to pick it up.....let's not throw in the towel yet. The Cubs & postseason go together like nuts & gum.

I wouldn't get in the habit of abusing the mini horse charm; I'd hate for us to need some of that juju in September and the well is all dried up.

I think we could ride the mini-horses for the rest of the season. The rally monkey worked for the Angels.

i don't think you can ride a miniature horse unless you are a miniature human.
