Brewers Almost Signed Clemens...

....not quite. From MLB.com:

The Brewers indirectly got some good news Sunday when Roger Clemens announced he was returning to the Yankees in the American League East. Clemens had spent the last two years in the National League Central with the Astros.

Houston and Boston were also reportedly interested in Clemens. He signed a Minor League contract with the Yankees that will pay a prorated portion of $28 million in the Majors.

"We just missed," Brewers director of pro scouting Dick Groch said, "by $27 million."
