Groin MRIs and Other News

2 interesting Milwaukee-related sports stories this afternoon:

1. Sheets' MRI showed no damage to his groin. He's probable for his next start. That's good news. I'm a little uncomfortable talking about another man's groin, so I'm just going to move on.

2. Dominic James declared for the NBA draft. From my perspective, the only attribute that James brings to an NBA team is that he can jump high. He isn't a good shooter from anywhere on the court (2 pt., 3 pt., FT) and he isn't big so he's not a great on-ball defender (his steals come from filling the passing lanes). I guess he can pass it a little bit, but he makes some bonehead plays. I'm not a Marquette fan, but I bet the Gold fans aren't terribly sad that he's going to move on. He is doing the "declare but don't hire an agent" move, so he could be back next year...

Marquette Gold mascot cheers James' decision.

Without James shooting 3-19 every night, the Gold might be a better team next season.

James will be back. I can't see anyone taking him in the top 25. Then again, the Bucks took Marcus Haslip in the top 15...

I heard that he's staying in the draft if he's guaranteed to be a first round pick.

Don't know how he thinks he'll get that guarantee, but...I guess he's done everything there is to do at the collegiate level. I mean, he, along with 47 other players, were first team All-Big East this year.

I am sad to say that I may actually be more interested in Sheets' groin than I am in James' future. Could DJ have been more overrated going into this season? Remember when there was talk of him being a lottery pick? If he caomes back and has another crap year, he may be better off playing the actual lottery. As long as Mike Sherman isn't a GM in the NBA somewhere, I don't think he will get drafted that high.
