Bielema Slams Notre Dame

Anytime someone speaks bad of Notre Dame, it will be posted. In a JS article, Brett Bielema states that he's sick of ND seemingly always getting a BSC bid, even when they don't deserve it.

"I understand why certain teams get exemptions. I don't understand why Notre Dame does," Bielema said in an interview with The Associated Press this week. "If they want to play by conference rules, join a conference. They don't take, maybe, into consideration past bowl history. Notre Dame hasn't won in the last nine bowl appearances, or whatever it is. And to me, we've proven over time that we deserve the opportunity."

Good times here in Madison. Oh, and I've subcontracted (paying him off in BBQ) a correspondent to cover the Spring Game this Saturday. He wears the reddest rose colored glasses they make. Look for a full report early next week.

If "BB" is whining that he didn't get a BCS this year, he can shut up. The rules say 3 teams from the same conference can't go to a BCS, & Michigan & Ohio St. were definitely more deserving. Even if the Badgers finish #3 in the rankings, but the two aforementioned schools are #1 & #2, it's Capitol One time Baby! ND is a huge program, that travels well, and they had the Heisman trophy winner last year. I realize that the Heisman means precisely dick when it comes to NFL talent, but on Saturdays it is still a big deal. Have the Badgers ever been the recipient of a Bowl game they didn't %100 percent deserve because their fans travel well? Umm.....in a word.....YES! You had an absolutely fantastic year BB, but ND played a garbage schedule (see-service acadamies) and they still played a harder schedule than UW. Two Division 2 teams, seriously? When's the last time OSU or Florida or ND or FSU or Nebraska or ANY SCHOOL that competed for a national championship/BCS game played 2 division 2 teams. Honestly, stop whining and beat Michigan & OSU and we won't have this problem. If you are consistantly #3 in the conference you ain't never going to go to no BCS. Pretty easy.....

.....sorry....make that a definite Heisman contender in Quinn. For some reason I was thinking he won it, which is completely wrong. But still, Quinn & Charlie Weiss make for better TV than Stocco. That's all I'm trying to say....

As an alum and life long badger fan, I agree this is a bit of sour grapes on BBs part. The Badgers lost to Michigan and didn't play OSU. Rules state that only 2 from a conference can go to the BCS, so that is the way it is. However, I don't fault BB for bringing this up. Look at Urban Meyer complaining before the final BCS poll last season.
Everything BB does, he does with an eye towards recruiting. If you look at the story, these comments were made to an AP reporter, not the local beat writers. He was drumming up support for the Wisconsin footbal program and reminding recruits all over the country that the Badgers were 12-1 last season. BB recruits all over the country and he needs to get Wisconsins' name out there and make sure everyoneknows we are good.
Heck, he is drumming up support for the spring game so it looks better to recruits. The man designed his condo with the express purpose of using it as a place to close the deal with recruits.
I think the future for Wisconsin football is bright. I like having BB as our coach. He seems like a jack-ass. But one the players like. I like that in my coach. If AE or TD steps up this year, it could be fun.
Also, Chopp, make sure this guy's spring game report is not over the top. If there are any comments like, "Bill Rentmeester looked great filling in for an injured P.J. Hill and Lance Smith at TB. Look for him to challenge for carries this year." don not post the story.

Nothin' due but the "Rent'" this year....just kidding. The reporter is bias, but fair...except when it comes to Marquette bball.

Anyway, I'm about the most anti-BCS guy in the world. However, I think it's funny when coaches rip on it. You know why we have this system? Because the university presidents voted for it. Basically, if BB hates the system, he needs to air out his grievences to his bosses boss. They are married to the BCS as long as everybody makes a ton of money off of it.

Think about last years champ, Florida. If USC beats UCLA in the last week (which they would have 9 out of 10 times), Florida wouldn't have even had a chance for the title. Lame.

Matt is one of those guys who makes excuses for not having a playoff, saying "when would they play it" and "kids have finals..." Blah, blah, blah. It's the same thing the NCAA says, yet the NCAA figured out they would make an extra $1 billion with a playoff system(instead of the bowls), they would have a plan figured out tomorrow. No doubt about it.

I don't want it to be miscontrued that I am anti Badger and I too think the guy looks like he's going to be a great head coach. I guess my point is playing somebody good, and beating somebody good will do a lot more for recruiting than playing E. Illinois, Central Michigan, Bowling Green, etc. and then whining about how deserving of a BCS shot you are will. He had the chance to go to a BCS....he might've been able to beat Michigan and drop a non-conference and go to a BCS. But Michigan thumped us....no BCS. Deal with it. There was a time when any Bowl game was acceptable, but unfortunately for BB that time has passed.
