Have To

We get our blog license taken away if we don't mention Brett Favre.

So, it looks as if there's a solid chance #4 puts on the purple and yellow of the Minnesota Vikings. That would make it 3 different uniforms in 3 years. Ugh. That's like Derek Jeter putting on a Yankees, Fill in random team (Angels?), and a hated Red Sox jersey in three straight years at age 40. You'd rather not see it happen.

You mean, Favre's latest "retirement" might be one big lie? No way. I get so many predictions wrong on this site; I have to gloat when correct. Check out the Vikings blurb I did from the Brew Town Beat's mock draft done in January:

22 - Minnesota (CH)
Percy Harvin – WR – Florida

The Vikings top 3 needs are: Quarterback, quarterback, and quarterback. There's none to take at this point, unless they go with Nate Davis or some clown like that just to make Jason Whitlock happy. Besides, God#4 will be next year's Viking QB. Book it. In order to give Tavaris Brett Frerotte all the help they need, Minny goes with a TE or WR. I mean, Bobby Friggin Wade led them in receptions. The Vikes really wanted Pettigrew, only to be stung by the Todd/Philly connection. Harvin brings some explosiveness to the Vikes offense which will be enhanced by the Metrodome turf. Chilly can use Harvin in multiple ways (hand-offs, end-arounds, screens) that don't require their shitty QBs to throw the ball more than 5 yards downfield…which is exactly what they need. Secondary could also use an upgrade as its rumored our old friend Darren Sharper might play somewhere else in '09.

Maybe Favre to Minny isn't a lock. Matt offered up a good conspiracy theory: Brett's arm is cashed, he know he can't play. This is all a ploy. After meeting with Chilly, he can say "I just can't see myself playing for the Vikings," which would create more adulation from Packer fans (especially from the ones who are pissed) who would now think "see, he really is a true Packer." Could happen.

Last year, I would say the national feel was 50-50. Half wanted Favre back, half thought he was a douche. This year? It's like 80-20 (outside of Minnesota, where the fans would welcome 49 year old John Elway with open arms) he's a douche. I really haven't seen one article saying, "Yeah, Brett. You're still on top of your game, actually you should still be quarterbacking the Packers!" It's more like "Um, you sure you want to do this?"

Michael Lombardi calls him a liar, and Pete Prisco says he sucks and the Vikings would be fools to bring him in. Both are well respected writers, by the way.

Ah, who knows what will happen...but it just wouldn't be spring without a will-he, wont-he drama from the Ol' Gunslinger. You KNOW he loves the attention, right?

My guy Jagr (enormous Favre backer) emailed and said "If he goes to the Vikes, he's dead to me." Those are big words from Jagr.

Would you be pissed? Indifferent? Buying a purple #4 jersey? Who gives a crap, the Brewers are on? Brett Favre walks on water and will never do wrong? What's you're opinion?
